Hmm. That link is broken now... but a Google search shows the same headline, although it is broken too. Did the Strib take this item down? Was this news not ready to be announced?

Re: Vikings Stadium
You're certainly entitled to your opinion, but in my mind, calling Brutalism "beautiful" or lauding it because of its historic significance is just another false equivalence. Barren, hulking, and hostile should never be words used to describe civic structures.I think HCMC is Brutiful.

Counties Transit Improvement Board (CTIB)
This is general thread for the CTIB. I believe we had one on the old site, but I couldn't find one here. Anyway... Recently, news broke that Governor Dayton and the DFL legislature will consider an increased sales tax, to fund transit. The quoted amount is 0.5%. Does anyone know if this would be add...

Re: Planet Fitness to fill vacant Roseville Circuit City
The fact that Rosedale is so financially successful makes it all the more puzzling to me that they couldn't fill that huge Borders space with something better than a furniture store. The lack of a bookstore really makes it a much less attractive mall to visit, in my opinion.

Re: Transit News and Happenings
Sounds like none of you have had to deal with wheelchair loading on a coach-style express bus. I ride on SW Transit often, and to get a wheelchair on, the bus driver has to: 1) Get out of his seat, walk to the middle of the bus, and collapse the seats near the wheelchair door. 2) Get out of the bus ...

Re: Green Line (Central)
Floating slab is being installed in the U of M transitway this week. (Tcmetro mentioned that this was in place last week, but I think he just meant the 'trenches' into which the floating slab is being seated.) The slabs themselves are ~20' long by ~4' wide by ~6" thick, with solid rubber pads s...

Re: The Elysian - (711 4th Street Southeast)
This MN Daily article says that the lower level will be a church -- the same congregation that used to meet at the old church on this site.

Re: Washington & Walnut Flats - (630 Washington Avenue SE)
Walked past the site this morning, and the old Mercil's building was being torn down. I assume the old Noodles building and the house on the south end of the site will follow suit soon.

Re: Green Line (Central)
The concrete roadway has been poured on the Washington Transit Mall as far west as Church Street. The only remaining unpaved portion is from Church St to the Washington bridge. The East Bank station is close to being structurally complete, and the station signs went in earlier this week. Rail has ye...
