Re: Crime

The article offers a great history of the area, very enlightening. I think what it comes down and what the article showed that rich people want the area to be nicer. But those folks haven't grappled with the fact that the US is a low tax jurisdiction (25% of GDP and falling). If you want your strol...

Re: Condo Rental Caps: Economics and Equity

Hello, This is my first StreetsMN post. I’m on the board of a large downtown condo that is considering a rental cap. (A rule that limits the percentage of units that may be rented) This seems like a bad idea. It is anti-renter and I think it will hurt property value. What do people think? Has anyon...

Re: Street, Road and Highway Projects

MNDOT is studying tolls as a means of funding. http://www.startribune.com/mndot-study-considers-tolls-as-a-possible-fix-for-roads/472639723/ I personally think this is a good idea. The loud anti-metro people are always yelling about all the outstate money going to the metro. Let the road users pay f...

Re: Minneapolis Skyway System

Honeywell has a new Minneapolis Skyway Maps app. I haven't used it yet, but I downloaded it and will give it a try. http://markets.businessinsider.com/news/stocks/Honeywell-Introduces-Indoor-Navigation-To-Building-Occupant-App-1014682875 That's pretty cool, but it doesn't have the entire system. To...

I like the sign, but it should read :

Re: Opus North Loop Apartments on W river parkway

'Private Drive' and no 8th Avenue vehicular connection? Boo. Star tribune owns the ROW and must be selling it to Opus. Another waste for connectivity in the neighborhood. I know I had the same response just upstream, but I'm still not convinced that it's important to have a vehicular connection her...

I walked through the Skyway today. It looks like a couple retail spaces on the second floor are being built out.

None of my ranked candidates won and while my fourth choice would have been Frey, I'm still pretty uneasy that I didn't get to have a voice in that.
I'm pretty uneasy that my first choice Captain Jack Sparrow didn't win.

They were talking about converting it to apartments last year. Hopefully the new owner will do something interesting with the building.

Looks like a good project. My primary complaints: way too much parking and no ground floor retail.
Where did you see that there is no ground floor retail planned?

Re: Alatus Residential Project - 228 South 12th Street

Think they’d let Hotel Ivy punch through to access the skyway? With the Hotel Ivy south face having zero windows, could this butt up to Hotel Ivy like traditional downtown buildings? I don't see why Hotel Ivy would want to do that. They are already connected to the Skyway all this would do is cut 2...

That a skyway may be extending toward HCMC is really exciting.
