Re: Downtown Restaurant News
I have been told by people from the Northloop Board that Blue Plate Restaurant Company has signed a lease for the first floor space of the former HGA Building at 701 Washington Ave N. Most of the space is located in the newer extension on the north side of the building. Blue Plate owns the Longfell...

Re: 222 & Whole Foods - (222 Hennepin Avenue)
I'm sure the posters that are involved with neighborhood planning have a much better idea that I do, but wouldn't a taller building be better 4 to 5 blocks into the actual neighborhood as opposed to right on the initial corner or the "gateway" to the neighborhood? Something like the Carlyl...

Re: 222 & Whole Foods - (222 Hennepin Avenue)
Where are the entrances to Whole Foods going to be? I assume Wash and Henn, but will the store run all along the Washington side to 1st Ave and have an entrance there as well? This is important for my walking home grocery shopping convenience.

Re: Downtown Restaurant News
I don't know if it's a restaurant or not, but there's a new Tequila bar in the old Howl at the Moon space on 1st Ave. Did a quick Google search and couldn't find any info on it.

I was in the Chicago Lincoln Park Whole Foods store this weekend and holy f that place is amazing. Full bar, wine bar, half dozen different restaurants within the store, etc. If we even get a few of the amenities that one has I'll be thrilled.

Been some of both. I think Howl at the Moon and Wellman's both closed because of slow business.

Re: Downtown Hotel News
The Graves is a nice hotel that seems to be doing well amongst the 1st Ave tomfoolery. Very true, but if you've ever stood out in front of both the Graves late at night, and on this corner late at night, while close, you'd know they have totally different vibes. Either way, 1st Ave is in a total ov...

Re: Downtown Hotel News
Depends on what type of "action" you guys are talking about staying near. The action that was cops macing large mobs of people when the clubs get out? That's really all the action that's been around that part of downtown late at night lately. Now, it sounds like most of those clubs are get...

Re: Downtown Restaurant News
Yeah, I think that would help a lot. I think the bar part of Wondrous, the part they were using at the end, is a pretty good setup.

Re: Downtown Restaurant News
I don't think this closing is bad at all. It was a poorly run establishment, owned by a bad business owner. What's left is a space that is in better condition than before they renovated it. Someone who runs a legitimate business and is a good restauranteur should have a better shot at moving in and ...

It'd be cool if they all coordinated colors around holidays, major sporting events, etc. like other cities do (Chicago, etc). That always looks cool.

Re: Brunsfield Place Apartments - (915 Washington Avenue Nor
Anyway nothing to do with the paintings in the basement, which is a nice reminder that all kinds of weird creepy stuff might be going on in the nondescript buildings we pass everyday - makes the city feel much more interesting than it is. Walking around the North Loop on a cold, grey Saturday after...
