Re: MSP Airport

Seems clear this is a reaction to Icelandair going year-round on KEF-MSP, as well as increasing some flights to 767... But they are somewhat different markets. Icelandair connects many passengers on to Europe, while Delta will have to rely on connections in MSP with Iceland as the final destination....

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings

Until recently, LaSalle was being completely reconstructed, and 11th and 12 were being resurfaced. These are the only reasonable routes for Nicollet buses to reach Hennepin. Next year (I believe) 3rd Ave. will be redone with protected bike lanes. That doesn't leave a lot of options other than changi...

Re: Type II LRVs - Siemens S70

My guess is that they are putting it out to bid to see if they can get a better price than the existing options with Siemens, but I don't know... Might we be in for some 'Type III' LRVs in the future? There was an item in the Met Council Transportation Committee meeting last month about offering (se...

Re: MSP Airport

Delta uses its domestic-configured 767-300 (non -ER, no winglets) on a number of flights to major US destinations, especially in the summer. However, I don't believe the 767-300ER is regularly used to MSP at all by Delta currently as others have said. Paris was a 767-300ER after the merger, but has ...

Re: MSP Airport

Very nice! according to airliners.net, it will be summer seasonal, but still exciting. Looks like a 767-300ER, which we don't see a lot of currently.

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Retail News

I went in today as well, pretty underwhelming. Agreed that the selection wasn't particularly good, there seemed to be a lot of duplication of products on the first and second floors. There was a whole 3' wall bay section of selfie sticks on the first floor, then an entire endcap display of the same ...

Spirit is the 6th largest carrier at MSP, according to Wikipedia. Not sure where the Star Tribune came up with the 2nd place ranking. Even excluding regional partners couldn't get it to the number 2 spot. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minneapolis%E2%80%93Saint_Paul_International_Airport#Airline_stat...

Re: MSP Airport

Alaska Airlines will begin once-daily flights between Portland and MSP beginning in February. Service will be operated by SkyWest Airlines using E175 aircraft. A nice add from an airline that is quite small in MSP, and isn't super friendly with Delta right now. http://finance.yahoo.com/news/alaska-a...

Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)

It's a lot easier to detour a bus than a train! I assume this work was planned at the same time, otherwise why would the Green Line close all the way to Stadium Village, if the work they are doing is only downtown?

Here is the May 2015 Project Update http://a-line.createsend1.com/t/ViewEmail/r/1EEB34DC5300C7342540EF23F30FEDED The opening has been pushed back to sometime in 2016... So I guess having the C Line open in 2017 is still technically one line per year... Also, construction on the 46th St. and Minnehah...

It also looks like the the sections of Marquette and 2nd they will be using will be the opposite direction of the bus lanes, so they will need temporary stops. Wouldn't want the hoi polloi to mix with the express bus riders... (yes, I know 2nd and Marquette are basically at capacity for buses during...

Re: Guthrie Ramp Block Vacant Site - (800 Washington Avenue)

A carpool lane. On Washington. Something tells me they outsourced the details of this rendering.
Not just one carpool lane, 4! It appears that Washington is to become a one-way westbound HOV-only street. Traffic here has simply decided to ignore that, and drive on the left while they're at it.

Re: Episcopal Homes Loring Park

I actually counted the spots in the lower level, to see if one of the spots was supposed to be hatched off to show it not being a parking space, but there are 84 spaces as stated. They should turn the 3 compact spaces along the west wall into 2 standard spaces (unless they need to be compact for tur...

Re: Episcopal Homes Loring Park

No, he is right, I am thinking there might be a mistake with the striping plan? They are compact spots, and there is a column in between the two spots set at 90 degrees from each other. You may be able to squeeze between the cars and the column, but there is no way that could meet egress code requir...

There is an exit door on the lower level of the parking in the corner that leads to the alley between the church and this building.

Re: Hennepin & Lyndale Bottleneck Project

The southbound 4 will no longer stop at Groveland, it will stop at Vineland/Oak Grove only. Even if it was moved to the nearside of the Groveland intersection, it would still have to cross several lanes of traffic to go south on Lyndale. Not ideal, but that stop is currently an abysmal place to wait...
