All of the +++++++++++++++I'm always kind of impressed by the people who thinks the government is too incompetent to run anything except wide-ranging coverups involving multiple agencies and dozens (hundreds?) of people.

Based on what I'm seeing, I assume this second photo is the "tower?"

Market is there -no question. If the rumors are true, he is financing these projects himself so the risk is largely on him. I don't know who the general contractor is but assuming that it is the same one on all of the projects there is a certain level of trust/agreement/legal connectivity etc. I bel...

Twin Cities Leather and Latte? There's a place over by 27th and Hennepin whose owners and employees probably agree with you. (And likely think coffee is an art form, also too).I'm pretty sure it's still art even when it's a fetishistic imposition.

If the windows are in full wythe brick then windows will be set back the width of the brick, plus an air space so they'll be setback +/- 4 1/2" without doing anything special/out of the ordinary.

Not to pick nits but 6-4?! I know NOTHING about CTIB other than the "T" stands for transit. What am I missing about this vote and this body?CTIB approves 6-4. Two down, one to go.
If it's too complicated, I can remain ignorant...

Re: Washington Avenue
I agree that some sort of at least most of our Minoru Yamasaki examples are worth preserving. But it's obvious that this building -like many of its era- has significant defects with regard to supporting, addressing, and interacting with the public/street realm. The best strategy is to do lightweigh...

Just saw Frey rolling his bike into City Hall a few hours ago; I resisted the urge to hug him.But Frey is working on changing the ordinance so that people can drink in the parks.

5)GOP gets to tie unelected bureaucrats levying taxes to Democratic appointments thereby hanging a "taxes" albatross around the neck of the Democrats (anyway)
Yay politics!

So, is there just too much doom and gloom around SWLRT right now to even discuss? I'm a little surprised that this thread has been so quiet...

Bike lane striped on Nicollet between roughly 60th (that I've observed directly) and down past 46th (that I've observed directly) - maybe more in each direction.

Re: The Commons - Downtown East Park
The fences are down on the second block, although it looks like they are still doing finishing touches. Walked through this morning. The park certainly looks nice, and will be great for the residents of the Edition, but I'm still concerned about what people will do in it when there aren't events at...

Re: Adding onto one's house
You can ask for a variance and getting people on your side might help you but ultimately a variance is issued because the regulation as written would constitute a hardship not of your own making. Odds are low that wanting to go beyond your existing setback would cause an undue hardship so you'd pro...

Re: North Loop Neighborhood
It's still your choice to drive a lot. North Loop may not have all the chain/commercial/conveniences of a good urban neighborhood yet, but it does have corner stores, a Whole Foods on the edge and a border with the core of downtown. Anyways, all these problems can be solved with the new neighborhoo...

Re: North Loop Neighborhood
Minneapolis has a puzzling paucity of drug stores. In downtown DC there was a CVS on literally every block in the vicinity of my office. For any drug store need I have to go to Nicollet Mall, which isn't always easy. If I lived in North Loop I'd be pretty annoyed by that. I think our urban neighbor...

Re: United Properties SV Station Project
A post from Gopherhole.com: "...Good and bad I guess. That Days Inn could use a makeover, but I am loathe to have to give up such a sweet spot." This kind of sums up everything about driving in the US. As long as driving remains so easy, cheap and convenient, people with disposable income ...
