Re: United Properties SV Station Project
This looks very exciting. Anyone know who did the design?

Re: 365 Nicollet - (Opus Ritz block)
It was approved by the Planning Commission in September 2015. For folks wondering why nothing has happened in nearly a year, this is a relatively huge project. We're talking about a 30-story, 368-unit building here. The plans that they take to Planning Commission only need to show a certain level o...

Re: Construction Quality
Question: I'm no expert in residential codes, but I thought that the wood in this construction type was protected by the gypsum board and therefore didn't need to be fire-rated. Is this not true? Archiapolis? In corridors, "exit components", etc. the calculations for x layers of gypsum bo...

Re: Stadium LRT Station, Ped Bridge & Plaza (MSFA block)
I just got back home from the Chelsea - AC Milan game and wanted to talk about the bridge. Now before VAStationDude calls us all Europhile Hipsters for the fourth time I would like to mention that that place sold out and was 64,101 strong. The bridge did a good job. I completely agree with Archiapo...

Re: Stadium LRT Station, Ped Bridge & Plaza (MSFA block)
Why wasn't the security perimeter designed into the building/ plaza? Seems odd to use temporary structures for something that is required for anyone to actually use the building. All that chain link was noticeably absent in the flashy marketing flyovers. 'Hey, come on over and wander in though thes...

Re: Stadium LRT Station, Ped Bridge & Plaza (MSFA block)
Only concrete (and light poles). They didn't even spring for trees. Or benches. Or even a different color/pattern of concrete . It's a billion dollar stadium with a 10¢ front walk. This. ETA: They aren't even interesting light poles. I haven't even seen the finished product and it sounds bad but th...

Re: Stadium LRT Station, Ped Bridge & Plaza (MSFA block)
With the exceptions that 1) the Vikings paid for over 60% (and not all) Why bother with mathematical trifles like 40% when it is easier to accuse people of whining? and 2) that you were in favor of the stadium, Important distinction: I was in favor of building a stadium even if it meant SOME public...

Re: Stadium LRT Station, Ped Bridge & Plaza (MSFA block)
For those just joining the conversation, TL;DR is as follows: The design elements of a pedestrian bridge... (which connects to a stadium wherein men [mostly of color] will be required to give each other traumatic brain injuries as a form of mass entertainment, built to help facilitate the translati...

Re: White Castle and Holiday at Central & Hennepin
So, what's going on with the expansion of the Ped Overlay zoning that was talked about in the wake of the Roat Osha proposal? I haven't heard much about it in a while, and, meanwhile, auto-oriented crap keeps getting proposed and approved, for lack of grounds to deny, in our booming walkable distri...

Re: Stadium LRT Station, Ped Bridge & Plaza (MSFA block)
Do you want some cheese with that whine? An “abomination”? Really? For such a pedestrian looking bridge (pun intended), that's a little strong don't you think? Good burn. Added points for implying mental illness is at work with the “dissociation” diagnosis and attributing it to those who don’t agre...

Re: Stadium LRT Station, Ped Bridge & Plaza (MSFA block)
It's great that we can find post hoc justifications for why it shouldn't be done but it wasn't a conscious decision that was made after carefully weighing all the factors, it was just never considered. We just keep bolting stuff on that further cements the status quo without every really evaluating...

Re: U.S. Bank Stadium Construction Updates
Gopher season ticket holder for 9 years (and counting). Bathroom situation isn't great for the reasons that I mentioned above that could have been solved at the space planning/budgeting phases along with a modern plumbing code. The problem that I experience in my section area is the bathroom queues ...

Re: Stadium LRT Station, Ped Bridge & Plaza (MSFA block)
THIS.I think all along, people on this forum have been very clear that they would prefer a center platform in addition to side platform(s). You are likely correct that a center platform alone would be inadequate and unsafe for handling large event loads.

Re: U.S. Bank Stadium Construction Updates
I believe that troughs are no longer compliant with the plumbing code. This may be for sanitary reasons, or may be because the plumbing code is written by plumbers who would rather install 8 urinals than one trough. You have driven to the heart of the issue. I'm all for more union jobs but we have ...

Re: U.S. Bank Stadium Construction Updates
I hope you're kidding... Not at all. The men's rooms at TCF Stadium are a train wreck. Troughs are insanely efficient. Literally zero need for individual stalls for men. I have to agree - troughs are very efficient at stadiums (stadia?) and they are MUCH cheaper ("everything" running to o...

Re: Stadium LRT Station, Ped Bridge & Plaza (MSFA block)
I stood on the bridge for about 15 minutes during the stadium open house. The majority of light rail riders did not seem to understand the bridge would help them cross the street, so they just walked over on street level. Sad and ugly use of public $. Obviously this is confirmation bias but this pr...

As I said above, if this was orchestrated, then respect to the developers for the slickest aikido moves ever.
