Is work still proceeding on the old Holiday Inn remodel? After some initial activity (e.g. signage coming down, fencing going up), I haven't seem much activity. Perhaps all the work is taking place inside at this point.

I don't think there are any immediate plans to develop the property. I suspect the developer is tearing it down before any additional efforts can be made to block the demolition.

The last 14 comments are about parking ramps. I'll probably get banned for switching the subject, but while I like the layout of the buildings, the public plaza and how it connects to the river, I'm don't particularly care for randomly placed panels and windows:

It's been a year since the last post, is this project dead? Also, what happened with the 2nd phase of Sherman's West Side Flats development?

Looks like 142 more Sears Stores will be closed at the end of the year. I never see that much business at the St Paul store, other than the license bureau. Makes me think one of these times, it'll make the list.

As a long time St Paul resident, I have no doubt they'll choose a developer that proposes something more like this:

I agree. All those little sections jutting out here and there doesn't appeal to me. Keep it clean and simple.

My opinion on the Pedro Park/Safety Annex Building controversy. Give the Union Gospel Mission a couple of floors in the Safety Annex Building and tear down the current Gospel Union Mission (GUM). GUM is the real eyesore on that block.

Glad they're not tearing the corner building down, but wouldn't mind seeing Pomeroy's and the garage replaced.

So will the buildings (e.g. Pomeroy's) facing E 7th will be demolished?

When I saw the photos on here with silver instead of white covering, I was kind of disappointed. After seeing live, I like the silver - it kind of has a metallic sheen and a herringbone like pattern. All I need is some assurance that those white tabs will be removed.

Work on the Holiday Inn renovation is about to begin:

"The plan is to close the Holiday Inn on Sept. 5, so work can start. The developer expects construction on the Broadway hotel to start in earnest in October or November with the re-opening happening in May or June 2019."

I see they demolished the VFW and the small building next to it. Is anything going up soon on that site? Are they also going to take down the buildings to the south (e.g. Scharf)?

I'm more interested in the two buildings in the background of the rendering. ☺
