Maybe a laser show with music? They have this in Hong Kong I hear.I like that they are thinking about adding some unique exterior lighting design elements but can't they come up with something that's not already part of the skyline.

Re: Cambria / Fairfield Hotels - 41 10th Street N (former Ramada block)
Maybe something terrific will get built across the street to reduce this project's impact. Hopefully, as open space becomes scarce we get fewer projects like this.

The McDonald's is getting a redo. Not a huge project, but it will change the character of the corner.

I had the same thought. This station appears to have as much parking as McDonalds. I guess on the street?Where would people park?

Any chance the city rejects this? Did the DMNA approve?

Re: Minneapolis 2040 Comprehensive Plan
Although, I'm for density I think the city needs to resolve their issues with keeping rental units habitable. There currently is a crisis with the Kahn and Frenz properties, the city and it's oversight have failed the tenants of these properties. Even after properties have gone to the administrator ...

Re: Alatus Residential Project - 228 South 12th Street (31 stories - ~350'/415')
They presented to the DMNA tonight. Same images as Grant posted above. One fun tidbit - they're apparently strongly considering having the big glass panel at the top being a video display like Target Plaza. Thats so tacky. Fast forward 2 months and it'll be used to advertise anything and everything...

It'll be cool if the two displays were timed together or interacted. Although I have to admit I like the top portion as it is in the rendering. I have a theory that we have many buildings with lights because A)The tallest buildings have them and B) It's so darn dark during the winter.

Re: Downtown Minneapolis General Topics & Development Map
My read was that Frey wants the function of the Post Office gone, not the building. Except for the parking ramp, which everybody except for the Post Office very much wants gone. The images that I saw on Twitter that suggested anything more radical than that would seem to be the product of excited d...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Office Market
Personally, I wish there was more of a priority to attracting jobs Downtown. There are reasons employers stay away and I wish the city would help either remove those barriers or promote the benefits of being located Downtown. I think the SWLRT might help a bit too making it easier for commuters. In ...

Re: Bicycle Infrastructure
These will be appreciated and probably further increase the bike traffic within the corridor. (My wife may commute through here when it warms up and I feel better about her riding this route with the barriers.) I'm not sure if it was the plows or cars that knocked over all the bollards. There are a ...

Re: United Properties / Four Seasons "Gateway" Project (Nicollet Hotel Block)
I've always half-heartedly wondered why the Pohlads couldn't at least sell more of these to well-to-do Twins players and wealthy friends. I count 17 Twins players who make at least a million a year.

Re: United Properties / Four Seasons "Gateway" Project (Nicollet Hotel Block)
It's interesting the Gateway Hotel was 18 stories...this is 33. So after all this wait and years as a parking lot we gain 15 stories? I know the new Gateway project have floor of height which most likely differ from the old hotel, but it shows that this project is disappointing as far as we know.

Re: Market Bar-B-Que Apartment project - 1400 Nicollet
I just want to know when 6 story buildings became "towers" Minneapolis ain't Grand Marais... I think they're referring mainly the Alatus and CityClub buildings and threw this is as added information. Personally, I don't mind this proposal. It would be nice to have a design for a building ...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Office Market
Admittedly know nothing about this except for the article I just read after seeing the post, but doesn't it seem more likely that if they were to merge that it would be more like Target 'acquiring' Kroger in the mechanics of how it actually went down? Target has faced challenges, but seems to have ...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Office Market
Target, appears to be a stronger company than Kroger. Although they have fewer stores and less revenue they have a larger Net Income and are more up with the times. (Kroger $1.9 billion vs Target $2.7 billion) Minneapolis might not come out bad with a merger. However, this is just all rumors with co...
