Re: Minneapolis City Politics General Discussion

Frey has strong support in parts of the Somali community as well, and he's handling this situation like he handles any other crisis - disappear from view until it blows over so he doesn't become a target. I see Latrisha as more of the heir apparent to mayor, and a significantly worse person than Ra...

Hyperlocal offerings like WedgeLive are a blessing, as he covered this coverup and misdirection play-by-play as it was unfolding. And didn't have to pretend to be neutral in reporting how ridiculous it was on its face. Props to Adam for his data request and reporting, plus SW Voices in running the p...

Re: Minneapolis City Politics General Discussion

Imagine if Rainville was smart and effective, and was able to weaponize his identity to guilt people into negative action and silence criticism as racism. If you follow her behavior you will see a pattern of callous disregard for others. I'm not saying every elected official is a saint, but she's pa...

Supervalu building on the Kmart parcel to come down. That place has gotten quite messy over the last few years.

Will be curious to see if this gets any bites. Looks like it could fit in on Glenwood. Better an office than light industrial imo. Mixed use even better but that's a pretty gnarly, truck-heavy intersection to overlook with housing.

The Walgreens moving into the old Office Depot space in the strip mall looks to be getting close to opening. Paper is off the windows and a Walgreens banner went up over the sign facing Lake. Tried to pick up a prescription today and they were in the middle of moving from the trailer to the new sto...

Re: Loring Park Neighborhood

The Speedway parcel is owned separately from the Lotus/Rainbow Road/Liquor store property. The latter just had their mansard (?) upgraded to copper or another metal. That's a 50-100 year investment. For those two reasons I sadly don't see this changing for a while.

Re: Loring Park Neighborhood

That Speedway seemed to generate many, many complaints among Loring Park neighbors. I think a small convenience/grocery store would be nice, especially with Target still closing at 6. It's apparently been a gas station for a long time. https://twitter.com/MplsPhotoBot/status/1420119319934029828/phot...

As someone who looks at this parking lot outside their window I say MOAR FLOORS. Seems marginal to add a third floor with a couple more units, unless that tips you into elevator/sprinkler territory.

These storage unit buildings spreading metastatically over the last decade aren't built on supply/demand, they're built due to cheap capital trying to cash in on the latest CRE craze. It's high margin and you probably don't need a huge amount of occupancy to cash flow and recoup investment. I read r...

It kind of reminds me of a boxier version of the new city public service center building. Quality and type of materials will make all the difference.

My day job is politics, I work and talk with people of all stripes. She represents the historic Black southside and lots of folks in those neighborhoods are constantly battling her for not listening to them. Even people in Kingfield see this. It's common knowledge.

As a longtime constituent, it's fairly common knowledge among her constituents that she's out of touch with her constituents. She knows it too.

Just went by for the first time since the finish siding went up on Station 1. The copper (?) looks fantastic. It gives an incredible effect of flames. Very well done.

This site is now cleared down to the ground. Makes the whole intersection of Hennepin/Washington look weird. I sure hope they get financing or whatnot squared away to ensure a spring 2023 groundbreaking and not an indefinite empty lot.
