World Street Kitchen opening in November. http://www.eatwsk.com/
I hope it's not too expensive, because this will officially become the closest restaurant to my apartment when it opens.

Pilings (is that what they're called?) were being put in the ground today.

Re: Bicycle Infrastructure.
Here's an interesting topic: Do you have to be on a bike to use on-street bike lanes? Or are skateboarders/longboarders/unicyclists free to use them as well? Obviously this was an exception rather than the rule, but a few weeks ago this effing moron was longboarding in the bike lane (green stripe) o...

Re: Transit News and Happenings
Alright, we're kinda going off the rails here. Can we steer this back to talking about the east-west spine or 7th and Nicollet? Personally, I like the idea of the 22 and 14 moving over to 4th Street. The contra-flow lane works really well and the facilities are already in place. Also, I'd like to se...

Re: Block E
It was a combination of a poor tenant mix, a bad market and problems at the corporate level for several of the tenants. Then there was Alatus' greed forcing out successful tenants so we'd feel bad for them and allow a casino to ruin downtown Minneapolis. Applebees and the like fall under poor tenant...

Re: BUZZA Lofts of Uptown
Well, I think the fact that they didn't have to build a bunch of underground parking is why the rent prices are lower. The surface parking lot was there before in the same configuration, they just repaved it and added lighting and landscaping. It does seem out of place when you walk by. It's too bad...

Re: 612Brew
A little unfortunate this will be on two major roads + the railroad tracks. Makes it harder to make this "Brew District" an actual thing. Agreed. I'd love to see that intersection totally rebuilt to better connect with its surroundings and [fantasy alert] have a Northstar station undernea...

Re: Transit News and Happenings
Temporary curb installations sound great but I can tell you they are not looked upon kindly by Metro Transit (the bus tire could catch/drag it) or by public works (most likely snow plowing blah-blah excuse)

Buzza Lofts of Uptown
Project website: http://www.buzzaloftsofuptown.com/ <has some historic photos if you're interested. This is nearing completion, as they were furiously working away on the parking lot and landscaping the other night. The construction fencing is gone now on most sides of the building. For those that d...

Re: Transit News and Happenings
Good points TCMetro. I guess when I suggestioned a 7th Street Transit Center I wasn't thinking of a bus station so much as a bus shelter built into that wall of City Center. It could be enclosed in glass, and long and narrow along that wall to give those waiting for a bus a place to stand or sit ou...

Re: Vikings Stadium
Love that interior shot of the HKS proposal. I do worry about having that much glass though. The way things seem to go, if it had a design flaw (like forgetting to compensate for snow weight or whatever) the public would be on the hook for every last penny to fix it. If we do end up with a design si...

Re: Uptown hotel discussion
I agree that Uptown is a more local destination rather than statewide, but its catchment area certainly extends beyond the first-ring suburbs, as gahwi suggests. Uptown's profile is on the rise... just look at the massive influx of retail and entertainment over the past 2 years alone. The office mar...

Re: Northstar
the line was envisioned to go all the way to st cloud. so yes, that particular governor's cutting of the route had a large effect on the ridership numbers. How large? A couple hundred more riders would not make this a success. It's not like this was ever envisioned as some sort of bi-directional co...

Uptown Hotel Discussion
Does Uptown need a hotel? Could it support one? Why or why not? Where should it go? The Arby's site is often mentioned (on here, not publicly) as the perfect spot for a hotel. I could definitely get on board with that. It's far enough away from both the Greenway and single-fam homes that arguments a...

Re: Transit News and Happenings
Now that's kind of a leap, don't you think? I probably agree with the spirit of your argument, but you could be a little more eloquent than that. Is the lack of investment here DIRECTLY related to the fact that most of the folks using this bus stop are black? Or is it a multitude of factors, includi...

Re: Northstar
Ramsey Station scheduled to open Friday November 16. Good news- overall running time (49 minutes) will not be affected. Given that the dwell times are only 45 seconds at each station, I guess this shouldn't be too surprising. Ramsey fares will be $3.50, exactly what the Ramsey Star commuter bus has ...

For the record, I said I hope the 21st St Station isn't built, not the Green Line entirely. That jerk UptownSport misquoted me, which should be illegal or something. Re: Transit News and Happenings
From Metro Transit: https://netfiles.umn.edu/users/bril0031/Images/untitled.bmp The bus stop on 7th Street at Nicollet Mall in downtown Minneapolis has grown to be the busiest in the state and beyond. Essentially at the epicenter of the Twin Cities urban core, it is a transfer point among many of ou...
