Re: Interstate 35E
That open space may be part of the Trout Brook Nature Preserve ("Trillium") that's been planned for a while, and will be constructed along with this 35E project. The trout brook is being brought back above ground, and it folds in nicely with the extension of the Gateway Trail.

Re: Green Line (Central)
There are also windows facing Prince St (south) as well as what looks like window-mimicking trellises (there are openings in the sidewalk below them, so I assume some sort of plants/landscaping will go there). Not sure what will happen with the north-facing wall, but I don't think they can do anythi...

Re: Twin Cities Future Transit Map
uh oh...not sure why I didn't see this before...for Gateway, the stops should go: Mounds, EARL, WHITE BEAR, SUN RAY, 3M, GREENWAY, and then the rest. The border between St Paul and Maplewood is between the Sun Ray and 3M stations.

Found this render on the Model Cities website (correct me if this isn't new or current). I really like the way this looks!

Re: Introductions
I might as well introduce myself as well. My name is Brent and I have absolutely no training or education in construction/development/urban studies, but I love seeing new development take place. I grew up in and still live in Maplewood, and I have a bachelor's in biology and currently pursuing my ma...

Re: Lowertown Depot
I believe the vision/plan is to convert the Lowertown Depot into an educational center, possibly with offices or other uses on the tops floors. I remember a public survey going out about this idea, and historic reuse of the Lowertown Depot was by far the preferred option vs. a newly constructed ed. ...

Re: Saint Paul streetcar study
Looks like Phase 1 of the Feasibility Study was completed, which selected about 15 corridor/segments to carry forward for further study. More information is on the St Paul Transportation Committee website. I like most of the selected corridors so it will be interesting to see what may become of thes...

Re: Suburban Malls and Associated Retail News
The downtown still has a great huge deli area in the basement (what used to be Dayton's Marketplace section). They have good stuff, and are hopping at lunch. I am not even sure the surburban locations have these sections anymore? I haven't checked in those for that section in a while. Downtown also...

Re: Twin Cities Future Transit Map
I think it make more sense for the White Bear/Rush Line LRT to be a different color, especially since it is clearly going to be north/south instead of east/west. Depending on what happens in the Robert St Corridor, these two could potentially be interlined as the same color.

Re: Twin Cities Future Transit Map
Again being really picky, but in the eastern metro, the interstate north of 94 (and the Gateway) should be labeled 694. South of Gateway should be 494.

Leaving the U on the 272 Express for the Maplewood Transit Center yesterday took almost 2 hours last night. I certainly hope it doesn't take that long this time!

Re: Twin Cities Future Transit Map
Although it doesn't belong on this map (yet), I really hope the Rush Line gets some more attention soon. LRT from Union Depot to White Bear Lake should experience decent ridership, and it would fill a void in this current METRO/fixed-route transit network.

I also really like the look of those townhomes. Hopefully they're done right, and hopefully only minimal amounts of surface parking are visible up to the street.

Me too! I frankly could care less about Minneapolis developments (sorry). I want to hear more about the saintly city.
