Re: Target Field / Station and United Properties hotel development

This music venue is interesting (capacity 2000). May draw some acts that could easily sell out First Ave (capacity 1550) - but that's also already happening with the Palace theater. This may be a good alternative to acts that would have previously played the State (cap 2000) or Orpheum (cap 2600) bu...

Wasn't there an agreement to alter the logo on the roof in some way?
I thought so, but maybe it was just not to light them at night.

Re: Fiber Internet and TV Services, Cord Cutting

The new Plex TV service is a lower cost "TiVo style" cable box replacement - it works with cable cards. Interesting product but only useful if you already have a cable sub. I have a plex pass and being able to download stuff onto iPads for my kids to watch while traveling is worth the pric...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Retail News

State law would require that it have a separate entrance accessible to the street (or skyway perhaps...I'd have to read the exact wording of the statute). It can also be accessible from inside Target, but must be fully enclosed & have doors that close it off from the store, etc (see Uptown Kowa...

Now Edina is moving to full scale blocking in the Parkwood Knolls neighborhood. That will stop everybody, including the GPS routing flow... and just route them elsewhere.

Re: Unsafe Pedestrian Crossings with Mitigation Strategies (RRFB's, HAWK's, etc.)

Anecdotally, 47th and Chicago seems to be more compliant with the RRFB then it ever was with the old blinkies (I cross it 3-4 days a week). I'd be curious to see actual data. I'm a big dude and I'm prone to waving like an idiot so they see me, so maybe there's some bias in my experience.

Re: Soccer Stadium and Snelling-Midway Development

I hope they don't have price floors. it guarantees tons of empty seats, lack of interest and the club ends up giving away lots of tickets to get people there. we had free wolves ticket offers at work every couple of weeks all season. This may not be a problem for the United due to heavier demand in ...

Re: Sunday Liquor Sales and other Beer/Liquor Legislation

I appreciate that Torres Ray changed her position, but I find her "small business" positioning to be suspect. Her district consists of Minneapolis stores that have cover from zoning which basically gives them geographic monopoly, or Richfield, where the stores are run by the city.

Re: Fiber Internet and TV Services, Cord Cutting

It's an interesting question - the pricing is a lot closer than it was a year ago, at least on the lower tiers. Comcast price still goes up $20+ after a year and requires a contract, but if they're already customers it's tempting to just stay for another year.

Re: Star Tribune

Like a lot of traditional media businesses, they're going to have a demographic problem (they probably already do - guessing most of their subs - print or digital - are 40+ at this point) for which the print business will not be sustainable eventually. I don't blame them for not giving away the farm...
