Re: United Properties / Four Seasons "Gateway" Project (Nicollet Hotel Block)
Those renderings are pretty old. About 6 months now. Yeah, hard to really know what they have up their sleeve architecturally at this point, until we get updated renderings. The city initially wanted something "iconic" here and it seems to be falling away from that everytime the rendering...

Re: Smaller Scale Multi-Family Infill
Right on cue: Fourplex proposal in Minneapolis will face resistance, spark debate I grew up in a house in South Mpls, on the 3400 block of 19th avenue. Our block was a mix of single family homes, fourplexes and duplexes the two fourplexes, which were on the other side of the block, were never a pro...

Re: Kraus-Anderson, HQ Apartments, Finnegans "Brewtel" - 9th St S/5th Ave S
Last night I got a chance to walk around this a bit and also go into the middle of the block where the open plaza is and my thoughts are, kudos to Kraus Anderson for such a wonderful new addition to our city. The street level materials on the KA headquarters are very nice, and the brick on the tower...

I second that. Hyvee would be great in this location, the closest grocery store is the Lunds across the bridge in Highland. Can it please be a Hyvee?Did the name of the grocery tenant ever come out?

Re: Northside - General Topics
I like this a lot. It's nice to see some new construction that's not multi family.Awesome. There's always going to be a demand for housing where you don't have to share walls with your neighbors, but there's no reason that that has to drop density down to a single unit per 5000 square feet.

Re: Northside - General Topics
Nice to see the intersection of Penn and Plymouth getting some much needed new life. Don't have a picture with me, but we are getting the headquarters of Thor Construction and an updated replacement for the Estes Funeral Home. Hopefully we will get some retail included in the ground floor of the Tho...

Re: Downtown Hotel News
Challenging location with the folks lining up there for the shelter/kitchen. My thoughts exactly... and honestly I believe what has prevented this from being redeveloped sooner. This location seems to have much more problems than any of the other downtown service providers that help this population...

We have lost so much of our architectural history, does this city never learn from past mistakes??? Add another photo to Lost Twin Cities.

Re: West Lake Station / Calhoun Village area - multimodal study, development, etc.
I've stopped at this gas station before, it always seemed like it was in a weird spot. There is a Super America just up the road, so no need for a gas station here.I can't believe they found someone to complain that replacing a gas station is harming neighborhood character.

Re: Ritz Residences - 365 Nicollet Mall (334' - 30 stories)
That parking lot sat there for too long, now it's going to be home to many people and will add some height to the area. It's not a disappointment, just waiting to see how it looks when done.I think it’ll be pleasantly distinctive for Minneapolis.

I definitely like that the plan for the building was turned before it was built.I think it’ll be pleasantly distinctive for Minneapolis.

Re: East End / Thresher Square / Trader Joes - 713 Washington Ave S
The siding on this is a little odd looking close up, but from a distance it looks really cool. Seems to shimmer, sort of - a lot like the wind wall at Target Field. That's a decent way to put it. It's like if you had a multi-hued brick pattern, except the bricks were made of aluminum. It's unique, ...

Re: New City of Minneapolis Office Building
Yeah, there were several pictures of Harpa during the presentation. Not that the city has pre-financial-crash Iceland money, but I'm confident that this'll be an impressive building. This project has a lot of potential, I'm excited to see what this firm comes up with. Here's hoping they go out on l...
