Re: Blue Line (Hiawatha)
Why is it that lightrail trains meet their scheduled arrival and departure times pretty well, but in the year 2013 the electronic station signage can't give you next train arrival and departure info like the tube in London? I have often wondered the same. Don't the bus stops on Marquette and 2nd Av...

Re: LPM Apartments - (1368 LaSalle Avenue)
How sweet would it have been if a tower similar to this height and this much glass was proposed by the new Vikings stadium on the Star Tribune blocks? I think a city starts to look like a metropolis once towers are built off the beaten path of the core... Just my opinion. Agreed. Perhaps if the Rya...

Re: Star Tribune Blocks
it HAS to be taller than 222 feet. it looks like 20 floors. Average 10 feet per floor... a little more for the first floor. Add a crown. I don't know how it could be much taller than 222 feet. I may be wrong but I believe that office floors typically have a height of 12-14 feet so as to allow easie...

Will 4Marq be that bulky?

Can anyone spot the other new tower that will be catching views of the stadium and the new park?

Re: Star Tribune Blocks
It upsets me quite a bit when major banks (and GM and Chrysler for that matter) ask for large subsidies for these types of deals considering the bailouts provided to them after the housing crisis and recession hit. I know most entities have paid back the government in full but come on - either make ...

Well at least now I will know which way is North if (when) I get lost in the woods.Say what? North facing rooms get the least sun and are cooler and is the reason why moss grows on the north side of the trees.

Re: Star Tribune Blocks
I moved to Minneapolis from Detroit a little over a year ago and the amount of development going on right now is just amazing, especially coming from a city where a breaking ground ceremony for a parking garage makes the news. All of this is so exciting and so awesome! In three years this city will ...

Re: Downtown Retail News
I read somewhere on here, probably under the Hiawatha thread, that the Met Council set aside 1 million (2?) for Nicollet Mall Light Rail Station enhancement. Perhaps that can be worked in with eventually making it skyway accessible.

It also doesn't seem that "inviting" to me. Guess I figured there would be more glass on the outside - still kind of feels like it will be a fortress.

i like it. Except that picture of Adrian Peterson on the West entrance, which reminds me of a tramp stamp on a good looking girl. Good thing it can be changed - will probably say 3M or Target or whatever.

I was thinking the exact same thing when I was looking out the window at Skyscape earlier. That blows my mind.It is pretty crazy to think about the height of this thing. 290 is the same height as Skyscape.

Re: Nicollet-Central Corridor
Well, do we have any idea if the Nicollet Mall plans for which the city currently seeks state bonding account for future streetcars? LRT? Or LRT in a subway and streetcars at grade? I can dream, right? :) Yes. I read somewhere recently that the RFP for the Nicollet Mall Redesign will direct design ...

More details. They haven't ruled out implosion for the Metrodome. And as expected, it looks like demolition is likely for the Star Tribune building. http://blogs.mprnews.org/stadium-watch/2013/04/30/4-more-things-to-know-about-the-new-vikings-stadium/ Wouldn't the demolition of the Strib building b...

Re: Vikings Stadium
"lots of glass and light and a very open feel" is a very promising comment. It sounds like the architect listened to the community. I don't know. Reading between the lines, that sounded to me like they're preparing people for no retractable roof. Agreed, but even though it may have no ret...
