But don't worry, we've figured out everything that was right and wrong about previous top-down renewal projects and this time we're going to do it right.Funny, what's currently there was part of a similar 'coordinated plan' of the 1970s.

Re: B Line Lake St Rapid Bus, Midtown Rail Transit
Lake Street is not going to be reconstructed for this project. And with or without bike lanes on this section of Lake Street, not doing a 4-3 conversion locks you into a double-threat situation for crossing pedestrians. There's a good reason these four-lane undivided roads are disappearing throughou...

Re: B Line Lake St Rapid Bus, Midtown Rail Transit
What does that mean for the section between ~28th Avenue and the River, which under the “medium alternative” was slated to get a 4-3 conversion and bike lanes, and doesn’t really need full bus lanes due to low traffic congestion? I wondered this too. A four-lane road (even with two of them painted ...

That side-running concept should be ruled out by the side road closures alone. That would absolutely divide the neighborhood in half.

City/county/DNR are working on getting needed easements for the rebuilt section from Arlington to Maryland. Once that's built (hopefully later this year or next) the trail will connect through to Cayuga and beyond.

Re: Street, Road and Highway Projects
There's just no way that a 4-3 conversion of Lyndale is going to be able to handle the volume of traffic that the street has to handle. Take an honest look at the car queuing needs at lights throughout this stretch. It's going to make people livid. I think you're completely right here on the effect...

While it's no way to plan/build a transit system, there is absolutely a political element of "geographic parity" or whatever you want to call it, that is going to be expected by suburban legislators and the city/county officials that lobby them. Note too that the $25M in existing federal ...

The most recent example that comes to mind is I Like You moving from 1st Ave NE to Johnson St. The first interview with the owner said that they were moving because the neighborhood had changed and become too bustling (a nightmare scenario for a gift shop, I guess), but then a few weeks later she a...

Right. They're way more likely to lose customers by blaming crime and unrest than by saying "Uptown is too expensive, come visit us on Grand."

Before anyone asks, Broadway in Robbinsdale is about 66' wide, which is just about impossible to fit surface LRT in unless the street becomes a pedestrian/transit mall.

Run the Red Line north as a hybrid arterial/highway BRT, and run C down Riverside and Franklin to the Green Line.

Don't forget the Selby/Snelling Whole Foods, which definitely doesn't have a line out the door every day.Right, no one goes to grocery stores with parking garages, which is why the Old St Anthony Lunds and downtown Whole Foods have been such abject failures.
