Re: Riverview Corridor Streetcar
We should honesty strengthen the North-South bus routes in that part of Saint Paul. Once Riverview is actually built, then they all could connect all the way south to Riverview!

Re: Public Transit News / Current Events (MN only)
Would anyone know where to find some data on the operating Cost per hour and/or mile for minibuses? I've been digging through study/report PDFs from Google for a couple hours now trying to find some. It doesn't have to be laser-accurate. The only one I found was from the 1980s - but I don't trust th...

Nick Magrino, who goes by the screen name Elfangor, is really a 15-year-old high-school junior in Fredericksburg, Va., who used to live in St. Louis Park. 2023-2006 = 17 15 + 17 = 32 Damn, Nick's been here over half his life :P Funnily enough, I stumbled across this form at like the same age

Re: Downtown Minneapolis LRT Tunnel Discussion
What streets do we have in downtown Minneapolis that would benefit the most from putting in a cut and cover bus tunnel? I don't think anyone has ever made like a streets.mn post looking at the number of buses per hour or per day on different transit arteries, at least none that I've found. But you'd...

Re: Transit Crime
It should be explicitly said that arresting people with the purpose of putting them in jail will not fix any drug problems, but instead will kick the can down the road ultimately making them worse. If they're being arrested/detained because they're doing hard drugs on public transportation and don't...

Re: Transit Crime
Out of the box idea that just came to me, many train lines in Tokyo have female only cars during rush hour. What if we dedicate one car in the train to be more lax on enforcement of smoking, drugs, drinking, etc. The transit police would only have to patrol the other cars regularly, and if people a...

Re: Transit Crime
Well crack is pretty harmful to whoever smokes it. What if we just committed anyone who smokes crack in public to drug treatment? Also make all drug treatment in Minnesota free, or close to free. Add whatever other transitional and wrap-around services are considered to be best-practices. We've got ...

Re: Public Transit News / Current Events (MN only)
It's been a few years since there was discussion on the topic, but I've been curious - has the tech in our go-to cards changed at all? Now that we have a DFL Trifecta, it would be nice to have a universal public transportation fare payment card in MN. Tap your card and hop on the light rail to downt...

I think someone made a map like that years back on streets.mn, but based on land value per unit of housing?

Reading the comments the neighbors don't especially like being around the senior housing and the existing apartment building either. There's complaints about crime, increased traffic, lack of landscaping maintenance, and people outside the senior housing smoking. Those damn seniors better stop stea...

Remember the DFL can't lose a single vote in the Senate so assuming they are going to tackle everything on the progressive & urbanist very long wish list is going to be setting yourself for a massive disappointment. Are there boxes they are going to check, absolutely. But it's not going everyth...

With the railroad-negotiation-related service changes on Amtrak's Empire Builder, do they still have the dining car and dining car service right now? I'm going on a day trip to Chicago Nov 10th/11th.

Re: Purple Line BRT (Rush Line Corridor)
I can guarantee this is because of the upcoming election - they're trying to keep Diana Longrie out because she's a fucking nut. Unfortunately it seems like she's getting more traction this time around, but I hope it's not enough to take control of the council. If she wins, then this project as we k...

There were plans to build a hotel on an empty parcel west of the Myth (in addition to the Myth being replaced), though I heard recently they were changing that to apartments instead. I couldn't find that project in either hotel or apartment form on the city website.

I'm sure White Bear Lake will be relieved with the news about the Purple Line Connector. I hope their strategy to place the Purple Line better in the rankings for federal funding won't include more park & ride spaces like they did for the Gold Line. I hope so too. What other avenues are ...

I don't think it's been said yet, but it looks like this is now gonna be finished before the green line extension will be!
The Rush Line probably would have tied with SWLRT if it wasn't for that dumb election in WBL that happened.

When are we gonna make pay toilets legal again? MN State Statute prohibits them, but public bathrooms are too hard to find.
