Re: Downtown Office Market
I want to start seeing articles about how many of our large corporations (Fortune 500 and private companies) are desiring to relocate downtown or at least move a significant number of jobs downtown. Here you go: http://m.startribune.com/?id=183450161 This is nice, but where in the article did a com...

Can't tell if the above post is serious. The competing municipalities is counter productive but the city is successfully working towards doubling the downtown population, while Northeast and Uptown are also growing, and numerous sources cite the increasing desire of younger people to live and work ...

Everything we've ever wanted to know about the state of the downtown office market: http://finance-commerce.com/2012/12/landlords-market-ahead-office-space-disappearing-in-a-buildings/ (free) Do I see a 1000 foot tower on the horizon? Not in Minneapolis. Remember the Twin Cities area has several mu...

Don't get your hopes up.But great news, I really hope they work some magic there and not just some stuff. This could be the future of Minneapolis or it could just be Minneapolis.

Re: 222 & Whole Foods - (222 Hennepin Avenue)
Yes, they will be saying...how could the city let them invest 75 million in this private development and bring a 40,000 square foot grocery store downtown 20 years ago? Crazy. I can't believe they would think of allowing it! They should have left the empty Jag dealer there, lost the tax revenue, an...

Re: 222 & Whole Foods - (222 Hennepin Avenue)
I've never been a huge fan of the design, but I see this building as a stepping stone to really get this intersection and surrounding blocks fully developed. Well, if it's only going to attract more of the same, then no thanks. This will be yet another MPLS project where 20 years from now, people w...

Re: Nic on Fifth - (455 Nicollet Mall)
Wow. This site should be getting something so much better. Instead it's getting an updated version of Skyscape. I'm really disappointed and even a bit pi$$ed that this project is going through. What is with our local design firms?

Re: Downtown Retail News
I think the city needs to rethink shorter hours on weekdays/weekends/closed on Sunday - it just forces out of town visitors and residents to go to MOA or the suburbs to shop. Also agree with what someone said earlier - the city needs to make downtown more inviting/safe for teenagers and 20 year old...

Re: Nicollet Residences - (455 Nicollet Mall)
Hate to burst your bubble, but what you say has been true for 30 years now. But now many are not looking at commuting 30-50 minutes to work. Maybe if you are married with children you are looking at that senerio, but the younger people and the empty nesters are looking to move back to the city. Why...

Re: Nicollet Residences - (455 Nicollet Mall)
There will again be demand for office space, living space and entertainment space. When you make your city someplace that people want to visit, work , or live in you need to invest wisely with a look to the future as well. There, I'll get off my soap box and listen to what others think. I disagree....

Re: Nicollet Residences - (455 Nicollet Mall)
I have mixed feelings about this development. I think this site should be getting something more than a stubby, residential high-rise. However, I know there is a good chance that we would have to wait decades to see a sizable (500ft - 900ft), mixed-use or office tower.

Perhaps you would like a city or suburb between 20,000 - 50,000. Find one that is stable or has little chance at experiencing growth.Your fun is my lack of sleep and hassle getting around the community I live in.
