Re: Minnesota Multi Purpose Stadium
It's Minneapolis.. They go MINNE on everything. I bet they shrink the seats from 64,500 to 60,000 before it's all said and done. Don't the gophers have the smallest stadium in the big 10? ..It's Minneapolis. Would you be happier if they added 30,000 seats and added that to the taxpayer bill? ;) 30,...

Re: Southwest Corridor (Green Line Extension)
There's a filter set to automatically do that whenever someone uses 'IMO' or 'IMHO'. Note that it also happened in ECtransplant's post above yours.

Just got an email saying the next 10 renters get a $1000 gift card. Looks like they've kinda overshot on the luxury student rental market.

I'll go if my senior design stuff permits, but I won't really know that more than a couple days in advance. I'm sooo ready to graduate.

Re: Stadium Parking Ramp Air Rights Development
I think the headline writer just pulled 35 stories out of his ass. In the video clip, the reporter talked about modifying the design of the six or seven story parking ramp to make sure it could accommodate about 17 stories of building on top of it. So, 25-26 stories, just like the renderings seem to...

Yeah, but there's precedent.Something in the 6-10 story range would actually seem to be better here. Arent there townhomes and single family homes really close to this?

Re: Orange Line (35W BRT)
So, are the 4 (8?) Marq2 stops going to be upgraded to BRT-style stations like they're planning for the A-line, or are they going to remain just normal shelters (albeit with NexTrip screens) like they are now. I don't see anything in the presentation about upgrading those stations, but they will nee...

Re: Car Ownership
I've got a 2002 Cavalier, which only gets used once every couple of weeks now that I work downtown and take the bus. I'd sort of like to get rid of it, but I do use it to visit my family and my girlfriend out of town, and for grocery shopping and the like, and it's not too costly to keep around, at ...

Not that I didn't expect this, but, out of curiosity, has the HPC ever allowed a demolition? Even once?

Re: Current & Proposed Downtown Minneapolis Projects
I don't know why it's obvious that an elected official would see a fantasy map one of us made and want to build it and impossible for a CEO to see a fantasy proposal one of us made and want to build it. Your claim seems to be that elected officials are open to ideas and unelected officials are clos...

Fine by me, as long as you can you can still walk through unlimited times if someone told you to go there each time.

Yeah, it appears CM Frey is working on an ordinance to help get rid of it. (Though not at the expense of a building that some people rioted near once.)

I believe so. Also, the MCTC ramp is free on weekends, though that stretches the definition of "nearby".

Re: Current University of Minnesota Projects
That's really cool, and I think it'll work out for them. If I were a Minneapolis developer, I'd definitely be interested in building in a neighborhood that wasn't going to fight tooth and nail against any- and everything I proposed.

Wow. I knew there was a lot of surface parking in DT, but I didn't really grok it until I saw that. We've got a long, long way to go.

Re: Southwest Minneapolis Teardown Moratorium
Speaking only for myself (obviously), I would tend to agree with the neighborhood character argument when it's used in this situation. It only rustles my jimmies when it's used to try to stop a 6-story building from being built at an intersection already featuring another 6-story building as well as...

Thanks Garfield! It had been weeks since anyone started bitching about the stadium in an unrelated thread. I had been worried people had forgotten about it.

Re: Stadium Parking Ramp Air Rights Development
Remember that there's 2-3 more hotel proposals within a couple blocks of this site. If the Super Bowl happens, I'm sure they'll go through.I'm surprised a larger hotel hasn't been proposed. Especially with a possible Super Bowl in 2018.
