Re: Nicollet Hotel Block
it's a simple, elegant building. i hope they can round up financing so we're probably looking at least a 4 year process for a building this tall.

back then? i have no idea personally. i'm just relaying an anecdote my brother told me. (he's a former priest of the archdiocese) considering the buildings historic status yes they would have a choice today. yes many cracks are the result of this near constant traffic vibration. the tunnel could hav...

Re: Downtown Office Market
cranes everywhere. apartments, some condo, office space, multi-use. how is the long term outlook not keeping up specifically? what major companies have relocated to the 'burbs? i mean recently, not 60 years ago when general mills left for golden valley. recently i can think of a few major firms that...

another travesty of 94 west of the core is that the catholic archdiocese allowed the freeway to run so close to the Basilica. this would be unheard of today.

Re: Nicollet Mall Reconstruction Project
people have been asking for city center's mall frontage to be revamped for 30 years and only minimal tweaks have happened and then coupled with a lively bus stop makes for an uninviting pedestrian experience. i have no idea what's behind that pinkish concrete city center facade but it's continued ex...

Re: Nicollet Mall Reconstruction Project

the "old white people" are right. perhaps beacuse they've traveled and experienced how cities much larger than ours get by just fine with true pedestrian streets. vienna, paris, new york? nah they just don't get it.
