Re: U.S. Bank Stadium Construction Updates
Also, I think they will have to put down the floor barrier and on top of that the soccer pitch (real field turf). That's what I assumed. The football field would be a poor surface for soccer. Plus, aren't the field markings permanent on the Vikings field? Its not that its a poor surface. The stadiu...

Re: Stadium LRT Station, Ped Bridge & Plaza (MSFA block)
Also went to the game and couldn't imagine not having the bridge. Is there a reason the LRT can't speed up the 10-minute frequency for big events like that? That's going to be a huge deterrent to people using transit to games. Its my understanding that gamedays, the goal will be to have the quick r...

Re: Stadium LRT Station, Ped Bridge & Plaza (MSFA block)
Do you want some cheese with that whine? An “abomination”? Really? For such a pedestrian looking bridge (pun intended), that's a little strong don't you think? Good burn. Added points for implying mental illness is at work with the “dissociation” diagnosis and attributing it to those who don’t agre...

Re: Stadium LRT Station, Ped Bridge & Plaza (MSFA block)
That may be technically true (or it may not, reports on this have been thin and contradictory). But we can look at the building plans, and wonder how many of the unwashed masses they'll be able to shuffle through the back hallway that connects between the VIP area where the skyway lands and the mai...

Re: Stadium LRT Station, Ped Bridge & Plaza (MSFA block)
FMP, part of our misunderstanding apparently was that I always believed that the bridge didn't preclude the center platform, so we were talking a bit at cross purposes I think. I'd have been happy to see the skyway connection eliminated. I think that it's inelegant and ridiculously out of scale as ...

Re: Stadium LRT Station, Ped Bridge & Plaza (MSFA block)
And my point is that it's really arrogant and really easy to look back with 20/20 hindsight and bemoan that people didn't build what you wanted them to. Just because people didn't correctly predict the future doesn't mean that they didn't look to the future. That's the problem with actually buildin...

Re: Stadium LRT Station, Ped Bridge & Plaza (MSFA block)
I think he's suggesting it wasn't their best efforts. And there's good reason to believe he's right. There is a certain fairness to your point that I not only concede, but accept - - - with one proviso; and that is that those arches were ugly on the drawing board before being built. I would agree w...

Re: Stadium LRT Station, Ped Bridge & Plaza (MSFA block)
I stood on the bridge for about 15 minutes during the stadium open house. The majority of light rail riders did not seem to understand the bridge would help them cross the street, so they just walked over on street level. Sad and ugly use of public $. Obviously this is confirmation bias but this pr...

Re: U.S. Bank Stadium Construction Updates
Hiawatha, I don't think "venue" means what you think it means. But I get what you're saying. I wonder how the football season will affect what events they'll be willing to schedule in the stadium from August through January. They can do some amazing things in rearranging the floor and pla...

Re: Stadium LRT Station, Ped Bridge & Plaza (MSFA block)
The Vikings paid for almost all the bridge and in return got signage rights.I still can't believe that public money was used for this bridge. Gross.
Also, the necessity of the bridge concerns days when the LRT is fully engaged for game days and other large events.

It was not "overturned in court." The NLF allowed it to expire as was no longer needed. There was no court ruling or legal finding leading to the decision to suspend the black-out rule. That blackout rule was overturned in court last year.

CoW?July 21st according to Sam Black. City asked for some changes before meeting with CoW, which makes me a bit nervous. Ryan will still be at the DMNA Land Usee meeting on July 5th.

Those big styrofoam blocks are called geofoam. Basically it's lightweight fill, a lot a road and bridge projects use it where you have poor soils. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geofoam Geofoam is also used as a weight mitigation device when seeking to put a garden, lawn, or a concrete surface abo...

All I will add to this is that my post you quoted, VikingFanInMaryland, was a joke. I understand their agreement, as do most people on here, and was poking fun at how they went overboard on the amount of signs. That is all. Apologies if I seemed like i was going after you. Re: DTE: Wells Fargo, Radisson Red, Edition Apts & Millwright Building
I'm against public financing sports venues. I'm just trying to make the point that both the Twins and Vikings hosed taxpayers. The Twins just hosed us less. Regarding attendance. US Banks stadium will be used for many more things than Vikings football. I did pull the 10k figure out of my ass but I ...

Re: DTE: Wells Fargo, Radisson Red, Edition Apts & Millwright Building
1. There was plenty of squaking about tax dollars being funneled to the construction of Target Field. This board just wasn't around then. 2. Twins way was a newly created street when TF was built and is largely a service drive. The Vikings were going to completely rename Chicago Ave, not the much m...

Cripes man, give it a rest. We get it. You LOVE the Vikes and Ziggy. Also, more people, many many many times over, will see the Wells Fargo rooftop signs on Google Maps or Bing than from any blimp shot that may occur a couple times a year. Aside from your Google Maps and Bing analogy being ridiculo...

Are we sure Wells Fargo is in the area? I haven't seen anything saying so... Sorry for the length, but I thought this point deserves some explanation.
