Re: United Properties Target Field Station Development
Not sure I understand the "papered over windows for 20 years" comment. There are small businesses in buildings all over the North Loop that don't require foot traffic. For the right price they could easily lease out that space. Go to the corner of 9th and LaSalle and you will find one of ...

Re: The Paxon - (324 First Street North)
I think anyone that lives in the neighborhood is just happy to get something here. That abandoned parking structure was awful.
Plus, walking by it at street level I don't think it looks bad at all. Good infill.

Re: Minneapolis Armory
That number for capping 35W has always struck me as completely bogus. I wouldn't put too much faith in it. You know I never understood where they came up with pricing freeway projects.....To repave a freeway for 10 miles costs like $100 million or so. To add a lane in each direction for 10 miles is...

O'Donovans, maybe, but Kieran's should have no problem staying in business even if the Twins traffic is down. They keep a good crowd going through there and the patio is (before construction) always packed when it's nice out.

Re: City Center
It's a shame that the old Forum space doesn't have a better facade; something that both makes it stand out more and is sympathetic with the interior. I think that's one of the main reasons why no restaurant has ever been very successful there. You are 100% right. The Forum is considered on of the b...

What needs to be done on the Hennepin side? It's obviously not perfect, but as far as tenants go both Rosa and Fogo do very well there. Neither one of those projects was an overhaul similar to what you're describing.

Re: IPR Building - (314 Washington Ave N)
Between people gunning it to merge onto 394W and the awful yield lane that comes off of 394E, that intersection is terrible.
This project sounds fantastic though. An alternative to the Marriott will be great.

In the end won't this whole site look like what was originally proposed for the Zenith (Phase I and Phase II that never happened)?

Re: Downtown Retail News
I was able to see in the space on the other corner of the building last week and I was shocked by just how big it is. I'm guessing the size of it, along with no direct skyway access, makes it pretty hard to fill the space with one tenant.

I think they're actually taking over the former Epic event space... right next to Cowboy Jack's. The former Envy space is offices now.Looks like Shout House is taking over the former Envy nightclub space.

Re: Target Center Renovation
The addition clearly looks tacked-on and the fake-looking wood paneling is just terrible. I don't understand the mix of materials here at all. Using wood makes it look like a huge wall to me, even more than it is now. A huge wall in a '60's-era wood paneled den. "But it also includes a new, ir...

Red Cow is opening a North Loop location. I'm starting to lose track of the restaurants / chefs looking to open spots in the NL.

Re: Minneapolis Armory
This would be awesome. I cringe whenever a band I really like makes it big enough to play the Roy instead of First Ave.
I have to imagine acoustics will be a big challenge in a building like this. If they spend the money to do it right the first time this could be fantastic.

Re: Downtown Restaurant News
I didn't know whether to throw it in here or the North Loop forum, but work appears to have begun on converting the 3 story building attached to Deja Vu into the sports bar (named The Office) that was proposed a while ago. This includes a full restoration of the exterior, which I'm pretty excited t...
