Re: The Eclipse

I do like how the old curved design would have allowed for better street presence on Wash / Henn. That could be a pretty cool corner with more space there.

Re: The Eclipse

Keep in mind that IF this is a condo building and it's still Shamrock / Jim Stanton building it, their units are typically larger than the average condo unit.

Re: Minneapolis Riverfront

Yeah, I thought this sounded like a cool idea after reading that article, but then I was running along the river the other day and realized just how small it really is. Can that really be classified as a "park"?

I'm guessing if they thought that they'd start the Target center renovation before the game as well.

Probably getting pressure to not start until after the All Star game.

Re: North Loop Neighborhood

This place is a totally different concept than Black Sheep... that's the point. How many other places serve breakfast in the neighborhood? Cuzzy's, Be'wiched, and that's about it. Like the concept or not, their other places are packed. Check out the Lowry on a Saturday or Sunday morning / afternoon.

Re: Block E

Wasn't a Niketown planned for this location at one point? I still think that would go well here. They seem to do well with multi-level locations in downtown areas.

Re: Downtown Restaurant News

I peaked in there this weekend and if they're going to open in early December they have a lot of work to do yet. Seems like they're pretty hard at work whenever I go by there though. I think they were laying blacktop in the parking lot on Friday.

Re: Downtown Restaurant News

I've had takeout from the current location. It's easily the best deep dish I've had outside of Chicago. There's really nothing else like it in the Twin Cities, which might be a reason they could make it in a random location like this.

Re: Downtown Restaurant News

Construction barriers have been placed around the old Jamba Juice stand skyway level in City Center between Len and Baja Sol. The barrier advertizes a place called "The Salad Bar" if I remember correctly. It's also taking over the old Jamba spot on the ground floor level... next to Starbu...

Any recent updates on when the Whole Foods opens? This is going to dramatically enhance my ability to grab good food to cook on my walk home. Can't wait.

Re: Star Tribune Blocks

Tailgating doesn't have to be immediately outside the stadium. I have to imagine there are plenty of surface lots or open fields along the light rail that could be used for tailgating / parking.

Given what it's across the street from it's great anything is going in here. Having the activity and landscaping alone will be a big positive for the block.

I think it's great and it will certainly be great for the area. Definitely better for the area than some 30 story high rise would have been.

I should've been more specific... was wondering if anyone knew where the project was at. Is the hotel planned for that space still on track?

Some info on the Nate's Building hotel on 1st & 4th.

Anyone know where this is at? I've seen some people that look like contractors in the old Om space lately.

Re: Western Container Building Condos

BTW - there used to be another corner store 2nd St & 5th Ave. It's been closed about a year. I think most (myself included) don't go to these corner stores because it's easier to stop at a full grocery store on the way home from work. that's the one i was thinking of. Didn't know that it closed...

This it? http://www.ctmt-msp.com/E-News/2007-December-E-News/pacificFlats.jpg Really hoped that this project would've happened. I believe City Council didn't approve it because of zoning/height, etc. requirements. Believe it would've included a hotel. I could be wrong, but I thought the project got...

This part of Washington is starting to come together. It'd be nice if they could get some more green stuff on the sidewalks.

Re: Block E

I think it would be cool if KARE-11 or KSTP moved their headquarters to Block E. They could do it like WCCO does on Nicollet Mall, with windows looking into the newscasts. I also envision some sort of moving light display that would scroll top news stories along either Hennepin or First Avenue... I...
