Re: 900 Marquette - Hines Office Tower - 29 stories / 440'

The street level on this is super impressive. Imagine if people cared about this 50 years ago, makes me want to do some urban re-renewal. But seriously-- the seeming trend of new, amenity filled office space and the conversion of outdated space to housing makes a lot of sense to me as the ideal way ...

Also it sold in 2018. Anyways I do not think there is any chance this specific project is going to be condos.

Re: Transit Crime

It definitely doesn't help that MTPD sits in their vehicles waiting for things to happen instead of riding the trains. I can only imagine the response to the first video of a transit cop trying to get an uncooperative ‘unhoused’ person to leave the train. I think I’d tend to sit in my vehicle too, ...

Re: St. Anthony Main - General Topics

I feel like it would take a lot. It needs to be way better connected to everything else in NE to really thrive IMO. But there's so much crap in the way I don't really know how that's possible.

Not way its true, IMO (unless its 100% driven by the campus counting situation, which would be stupid). But no chance the normal population decreased.

Don't know, but this little section of that article is GOLD. "Forty years ago, Janice Devine and Peter Ruggles used to eat, sleep and breathe downtown Minneapolis. After they moved, they noticed differences over time. “To not have the Dayton’s, to not have some of that retail, I could see that ...

Re: RBC Gateway & Four Seasons - 37 stories - 519'

Just to keep posting— if you look at their website you’ll already see how they will be catering luxury leisure travelers in a way that’s totally different than anywhere else. And that’s only going to expand. Sure, it’s now the most luxurious hotel in town for people who were coming anyways. But it w...

You’ll also get the people who will come simply by seeing the hotel on the four seasons website. They won’t necessarily know anything about minneapolis, and might only venture out on four seasons recommended/curated excursions. It’s definitely a whole different animal then exists here otherwise.

Re: RBC Gateway & Four Seasons - 37 stories - 519'

Not naive at all, imo. Rich people love luxury hotels, and will travel to destinations just because these hotels exist. Especially early on, there will be many coming through just to check out the property/service/food etc. and if reviews are good many more will come who otherwise never would have.

They've been running hotels in a lot of peer-ish cities for a while. st louis, denver, baltimore, seattle, etc. Not saying things are exactly the same here but this isn't an untested model.

Lunds would be the biggest win! I always imagine Holmes being able to run up to the mall, getting rid of that super block and having basically two whole new walkable uptown blocks!
yes please.
