Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)
How many people beyond the 50 die-hard forum readers and 1,500 people who read the one or two news articles (past the headline, at least) that mentioned the behind-closed-door offer for local funding for the state's share of SWLRT? It is more than likely a True Fact that it happened, and that it co...

Re: City of Minneapolis Offices Consolidation
Street parking is free on evenings a weekends. I agree with the argument you're making, but I want to point out that street parking in Downtown Minneapolis is metered until 11pm seven days a week. I would like to respectfully say you're wrong. I'd invite you to look at the meter rates and hours map...

Re: City of Minneapolis Offices Consolidation
Downtown has lost 000s of parking spaces due to development of light rail and loss of vacant surface lots - which is a very good thing. We want to see vacant lots developed into vibrant spaces for residents, workers, etc. But I am concerned that loss of 1,300 spaces will put a great deal of pressur...

Re: North Loop Neighborhood
Most ridiculous is along the Green Line on campus, where there are two poles not too far away from each other where wire comes out of the ground up to the top of the pole then connects to the building. Thinking about it, I bet those both go away because they connect to buildings that are getting to...

I find it fascinating that people who live downtown are anti-hi-rise.
I feel like everyone around here is anti everything.

It's not on top of the tower. A pool wouldn't fit up there anyway.Uhhh could they not? One of the very very few open air observation decks left in the the US.

We wouldn't want the same thing that happened to Saint Louis Park to happen to them. St. Louis Park is on its way to becoming “an inner-city wasteland” with “hoodlums standing around on the corner to harass the young women.” http://m.startribune.com/some-in-st-louis-park-want-city-to-curb-its-enthus...

' "It wasn't that long ago that people were afraid to go into the Phillips Neighborhood. I'd classify it as hip now." What is the area you are defining as the Phillips Neighborhood, and why specifically would you classify it as hip? East, West and Midtown Phillips. I guess it's called Ven...

Re: Subsidized and/or Affordable Housing
Thoughtless was a strong word, so I apologize about that, but I guess my point was that the only affordable homes for families are in areas where crime is an issue or the schools are terrible, or both. There is definitely nowhere near enough supply to satiate affordable housing demand. If I could f...

Re: Legacy Condominiums - 121 12th Ave S
Working families aren't getting priced out of the housing market here. I just did a search and found about 50 3+ bedroom houses in the City of Minneapolis for less than $100,000. Vast majority (and increasingly so) of those houses are in the Northside. You're advocating that we do nothing to challe...

Re: Legacy Condominiums - 121 12th Ave S
Where are those houses? Are they in decent school districts? There is definitely a shortage of affordable housing in the city and metro, but this may not be the best place to put that housing anyway, I agree there. All these houses are in the City of Minneapolis so no they aren't in a good school d...

Re: Stanton Condo Project - 121 12th Ave S
The utility is more housing. More housing means the people who will end up living there won't have to come steal your place and price you out of it. Is it that hard to understand? The people who will eventually price me out of my place in South will be hip young newlyweds with college degrees and s...

I don't know if that will be a reason to update the signage. The skyways close at 6 on Sundays.

Re: Minneapolis Skyway System
Wait, L45 spent the money to put in a public skyway access w/elevator, totally separated from their internal spaces and connected only to the city-owned skyway, and it isn't even open to the public? It's open to the public (or at least to me) from the skyway, but not from the street. It's not total...
