Re: The Larking - 800 Park - 17 stories - 172'
Does a trader joe's 5 blocks away not count? It's 6 blocks ;) The downtown Target is also 6 blocks away, while Aldi, Whole Foods and Lunds are all just under 1 mile. What percentage of the city has better coverage than that? Certainly some does, but not most. That's for this building, but for the n...

Probable result: tear down a bunch of affordable retail that businesses can afford to rent, and replace it with "mixed use" where the ground floor retail that developers are forced to put in as a condition of getting their project approved sits vacant because no one can afford it. In this...

Re: Greater Minnesota job market / employment news
Since you bring up Valleyfair, they managed to solve their "no J1s to work for peanuts" issue by paying $17 an hour for most positions and found Americans coming out of the woodwork to fill them . What do these vacant positions in Grand Marais pay? It's a good question, but their claim is...

In the interest of reducing greenhouse gas emissions & traffic congestion shouldn’t we be happy to see more flexibility in telework schedules? Is there a future mix between DT office work, residents and entertainment that would create a better, more balanced downtown? In terms of GhG emissions,...

Does anybody know what the status is of the southern end of the Gateway Trail? Has the state just abandoned it? In recent years I have been picking up the trail at Wheelock, but today I tried venturing farther south, picking up the trail behind the abandoned KMart. Yikes. I am an experienced urban ...

Does anyone happen to know the rationale for making the one-lane Bryant Ave NB to 46th and SB to 46th? Two things I know of: Aldrich is one-way SB south of 49th St, so making Bryant NB on that bit makes sense. They also want to have the buses for Barton pickup/drop off going SB so the kids don't ha...

People can take whatever position they want on allowing private cars through the intersection, but the suggestion that we're going to detour Metro Transit buses FOREVER (specifically the busiest route in the system) is so ****ing wrongheaded and juvenile that I don't even know how to respond to it....

Minnesota grew at a faster rate than the nation as a whole over the last 10 years. If that continues, southern states will indeed be gaining reps, but they won't be coming from us, likely.

My Two Cents about working from home is that a lot of these businesses employ knowledge or creative workers and their employees working together creates the brand, culture and output they have invested a lot of time and money into creating. If you keep WFH, some of that begins to fade and everyone ...

Because St. Paul is is the capital and second largest city, pretty much.
You are correct that the population center is close to Downtown Minneapolis, and the employment center is even further west than the population center.

Meadowbrook is an asset, which could be sold and the money from that can be used to reinvest in parks within the city boundaries. It's not about profit-making, but best utilization of assets to serve those who pay MPRB taxes. (Which are almost as much as for the MPD) The park blocks from my house d...
