Re: MN Highway 7
I hope there are stronger ped/bike connections across the highway at this point. The relatively new tight diamond at Wooddale is not super friendly for those who are crossing the bridge over Hwy 7. Especially during rush hour. You really take your life in your hands crossing the bridge. According t...

Re: MN Highway 7
I have been amazed at the number of pilings going in. It seems like a lot more than other bridge projects I've observed, and the pilings seem to be going quite a way west of the bridge site as well. Does anyone have any understanding of why that would be? I haven't found a lot of detail about the co...

Re: Toro Headquarters Expansion - Bloomington
The majority of the steel is in, the roof is partially done, and framing has started in the lower level. They are getting a lot done, even in the less than ideal temps.

Re: Southwest Corridor (Green Line Extension)
One of the many fliers handed out last night briefly went over the reasons 3C was not considered. In brief, it states greater construction impacts in Uptown and downtown, higher construction costs ($111 million-$180 million more than Kenilworth with the tunnel), significantly more property acquisiti...

Re: Southwest Corridor (Green Line Extension)
I was able to get to the meeting, but had to leave before anything of significance was even addressed. I was disappointed with the stutter start to the procedings. Doing introductions and then giving the crowd 20 minutes to talk amongst ourselves to pool our thoughts and ideas. I'm pretty sure most ...

Re: Southwest Corridor (Green Line Extension)
I'm hoping to make the first part of the meeting tomorrow night, but my time is limited and I'm sure that I won't be able to take part in much table talk, if at all. I really wanted to make it last night so that I could compare the two meetings. I guess that will have to wait for February. Thanks fo...

Re: 222 & Whole Foods - (222 Hennepin Avenue)
It is not available in Minnesota. No distributor has it.They didn't have any Ohio beers I haven't seen up here before and they don't even carry Dogfish Head (which I have yet to find anywhere over here).

Re: Southwest Corridor (Green Line Extension)
Funny; the ad that appeared at the top of the story was 3 early signs of dimentia. It almost looked like a part of the story. In case anyone hasn't heard about the upcoming meetings, they are near the bottom of the story. Meetings will be held Jan. 7 and Jan. 9 in Minneapolis and St. Louis Park, res...

Re: Southwest Corridor (Green Line Extension)
So it still looks to me as though we will have new consultants look at every option through St. Louis Park, even those that are just plain absurd, but for some reason we won't review any other alternatives through Kenilworth. Hmm. Money and connections definitely do the talking. Like I have said bef...

Re: Southwest Corridor (Green Line Extension)
This is mostly right. As far as I can tell the bicyclists aren't the problem. It's the CIDNA and Kenwood residents complaining about the presence of freight rail. Sharing tracks won't solve that problem. . I've heard some discussion that this really comes down to what the Kenwood residents want to ...

Re: Shapco Printing Site - (524 Fifth Street North)
There is absolutely no creativity in this design at all. Boring. It looks like the developer looked at blue prints from every suburban office park and went with the most bland.
I don't think it has to be exciting and daring, but at least have a little personality.

Re: Southwest Corridor (Green Line Extension)
There is already freight going over that little creek. And, of course, there was already freight that was going through SLP, which is why nobody from SLP had any problem when the plan was to route more traffic through that corridor, right? I don't mean to call you out, but you've got a strong veste...

Re: Southwest Corridor (Green Line Extension)
So we have had at least 4 independent consultants look at the options and we now have to spend another 3 or more months reviewing this again? I still say that there are powerful people with money who will make the square peg fit into the round hole one way or another. The rules will be changed until...

Re: Southwest Corridor (Green Line Extension)
When the SPO released the costs of the 8 co-lo/relo options, they listed that the trail rerouted requires no full acquisitions: I don't think the bike lobby has had much influence at all, at least as far as I can tell. The CIDNA and Kenwood residents most vocal about this don't talk much about biki...

Re: Southwest Corridor (Green Line Extension)
I readily admit that I have a personal stake in this. I am 1/2 block removed from the rail line. I have also been to several meetings from the time they selected the route, so I feel informed enough to comment. That said, I truly believe that I would feel the same way about the situation even if I d...

Re: Southwest Corridor (Green Line Extension)
It's irritating that local media repeat the phrase "two story berms through St. Louis Park" with no context. At what height, for what distance, and to what effect? You'd think the Berlin wall was being proposed. The berms are quite high and will effectively divide the area as any freeway ...

Re: Southwest Corridor (Green Line Extension)
No one "waited this late in the game." Those options were studied *years* ago and rejected. After reading the report below, I completely understand & agree with Hennepin County's insistence on the re-route (absent of options further west). It's not just about the bike trail in Kenilwo...

Re: 222 & Whole Foods - (222 Hennepin Avenue)
When I worked on Sunday, as I drove by, I saw a lot of people in the store doing prep work. When I was on the roof of the building where I work, I noticed that there seem to be a lot of residents that enjoy the amenities on the roof deck; pool, grills, lawn bowling, etc. The pool lights change color...
