Re: Southside - General Topics
Is it just me or has anyone else thought that the owners have decided that rather than run a semi-struggling business with upcoming market-related challenges (minimum wage) that they have decided to close and see if they can sell the site for a tidy sum? It's on the intersection of 94, Cedar/Minneha...

Re: Residences at 33 S 5th St, 40 floors. 451 feet
I did some really quick Googling, but have these folks built anything beyond 11 stories?

Re: Residences at 33 S 5th St, 40 floors. 451 feet
This is very impressive, I hope it proceeds as quickly as the Hub, and doesn't stall out like the Gateway or Alatus. It's odd how the building looks short compared to it's taller neighbor when in most other parts of downtown it would dominate.

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings
It's between 2nd and 3rd they've cleared the train from 2nd, but it appears to be still closed. There are a bunch of squads and maintenance workers. Are they able to lift the car back onto the tracks without unhooking the wires? It's also under the skyway between US Bank Plaza and Centurylink.

Re: Samatar Crossing (former 5th Street exit from 94 / bridge over 35W)
Well, it is being used, you just cant use it without walking your bike or giving it a hoist, unless they've taken down the barricades today. (I've wonder is this space will be used for the Super Bowl? )

Re: Samatar Crossing (former 5th Street exit / bridge over I-94)
It's not officially open, the barricades were still up this morning. But people have been knocking them over the fence and squeezing through gaps. Last I knew they were putting up the lights and fencing between the paths and the highway. I bike past this every day and have been patiently waiting for...

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings
This may have been mentioned on here before, but the StarTrib reports that the US Bank Stadium station closed for the 48 hours before the Super Bowl. "Light-rail trains will still run on their regular schedules and routes. They will stop in the Cedar-Riverside area to the east and Government Pl...

Re: Alatus Residential Project - 228 South 12th Street
Can't wait for it to shut down part of the 3rd Ave PBL for 2+ years! We survived the construction on Portland Ave. At the same time there isn't an alternative given that 4th and 2nd go the other direction and 2nd has buses. On a different note, this isn't the tallest tower, but it's classier than w...

Satori apartments on W. Broadway. They look pretty nice, it'll be great to see them get built.

Re: Bicycle Infrastructure
This might seem odd, but does it really matter if a car wanders onto a path? Yes, you could have incidents like in NYC, but the Dinkytown Greenway isn't that heavily used to be a target. The Midtown Greenway yes. Also, there are likely cameras on the path and perhaps the bridge that could catch an o...

Re: Bicycle Infrastructure
I don't believe that it's Eastbound. I seem to keenly remember signs with the speed limit and etc. for vehicles going east. I agree they should put in bollards or etc. I also thing they should be very easy to retract given that if there was a disaster or etc. this bridge could be critical for gettin...

Re: United Properties / Four Seasons "Gateway" Project (Nicollet Hotel Block)
I may be incorrect, but I don't remember this specific language on their site before, "Working with the City of Minneapolis and our project partners, we are planning a 30-40 story tower with a 5-star hotel, a public plaza, and retail on the street level. The development will be connected by sky...

Re: Nic on Fifth - (290' - 26 Stories)
What it very well could be is that a number of the units aren't homesteaded and are owned by the airlines or corporations who use them for employees who are in town. Especially since the building is right off the LRT from the airport. Likewise if you flew in to do some work in Mpls for a week or two...

Re: Nic on Fifth - (290' - 26 Stories)
Yeah, I'm told it's offices on the second floor.. Maybe a title company or something. Also, the parking in the building is weirdly empty. I don't know if that's because tenants don't have as many cars as anticipated or if the building just isn't that full. Is this overall or an observation? I suspe...

Re: Arcadia on the River - 1101 West River Parkway
Has there been any talk of extending it? From looking at the map there's nothing in the way. If you ran it next to or through Gold Medal Park and then put a protected bike lane down 10th you could connect it to the Hiawatha trail which would be nice. Although, there's no real need with concrete barr...

Re: Arcadia on the River - 1101 West River Parkway
The longest edge of Legacy is oriented toward a Downtown view. The other shorter end facing the river would lose view of the Stone Arch Bridge, but not the river itself.

Re: Stadium Parking Ramp Development Site
One of them was 24 stories. So if they go taller we could maybe reach 30? The parking lot looks large enough to take a building as large as Nic on 5h or it's neighbors. No matter what it'll be taller than Legacy it appears.
