Re: Northeast (and Southeast) - General Topics

I've seen that. I tried looking it up and I can't find anything about it. IS is just a renovation? I've been going to this location for a few years since I moved into the neighborhood. There used to be more employees working there on non-branch stuff (perhaps mortgages). They expanded their branch ...

Re: Alatus St. Anthony Tower (Washburn-McReavy Site)

It appears that Washburn McReavy has moved out of this location. The lot has not been plowed since it snowed. The lights are all off inside and the door is locked with one of those construction locks. It might be safe to say that Alatus has purchased the land, like they said they would, and are movi...

Re: Nicollet Hotel Block

I have to agree with Wedgeguy. Remove or limit the freeway and access to it too much and DT will decline. Yes, cars suck. However, they're not going away and discriminating too severely against them will cause all sorts of problems. Even Tokyo has cars, and lots of them! I think you are both dead w...

Re: Nicollet Hotel Block

I also see the real world where employers will leave the city if it is too difficult for their workers to get to and from work. Yeah, I don't think that's the real world. Well, that's not quite right. That's a possible world, but we're absolutely nowhere near that possibility. Even with all of the ...

Re: 7th Street Transit "Advantage" Bus Stops

I get that it's a budget issue but I don't accept it as a valid excuse. I think the budget for suburban lines is inexcusably high given the paltry sum allocated to local routes. The pot should be bigger in general, but the distribution of what's currently there is also unacceptable. Can we at least...

Re: 29th Street Reconstruction Project

Where would a woonerf be *needed*, though? Not a hypothetical, but which actual Minneapolis street? It took a few days for me to genuinely think of an answer to this question. I came up with three streets. One could make the argument that a woonerf could be built on Chicago Avenue between S 6th ST ...

Re: 729 Washington Av N

Actually the loss of sunlight was more of the concern (we didn't have a great city view out our window lol)... I'm just thinking that it's going to become more "tunnel-like" down in that area now...and that's why we continue to rent - we can move around to a unit that gives us a better vi...

Re: 729 Washington Av N

I guess I'm one of the few that does have some concern with the height of the building in the neighborhood...but my concern was mainly due to living right across the street (ElseWarehouse) from the proposed development and losing our view of the city (and the wonderful amount of sunlight we got in ...

Re: Interstate 35W

Art is a waste, because you basically want to get from one side of the bridge to the other as fast as humanly possible. I disagree. In fact I think many would disagree. Art is not a waste. If the purpose of this bridge is to be purely utilitarian, then yes let's not spend the money on some faux con...

Construction of this building is coming along nicely. They are already pooring the 4th floor. There is not a lot of wasted space on this property. They are constructing this building almost right up to the Lumber Exchange building. I'll try to snap a picture the next time I go through here.

I think they will do well in this neighborhood. Competition will be fierce but this place has all the right ingredients to succeed. They have d...

Re: Mall of America Transit Station: Master Plan

In the new design they have massively improved the way people disembarking from the Blue Line will enter the mall. Not only do you no longer need to walk through the bus circulation, but you also enter directly into the mall. That is a significant improvement for pedestrian safety. Too bad there isn...

Re: Washington Ave Bridge Enclosed Walkway

To be fair to the commuters though, part of it still should be enclosed/heated. I disagree. If you are concerned about being cold or getting wet, take the bus, train, or a car. If one insists on walking then maybe they should dress more appropriately. I did a lot of walking and biking on campus 4-8...

There is some rather major maintenance and rail replacement occurring on the Blue Line down by Terminal 2. There is a whole lane of road traffic closed between 72nd and 73rd streets along southbound 34th Avenue. They were welding pieces of rail together today when I was going home from work. Some ve...

The A330-200/300 flies more international service at MSP than the B767. I know they use the 767-400 for LHR, but isn't AMS (3x daily) and CDG operated by a mix of A332s and A333s?
Yes.

It's a little further away from the activity going on at their other location but I doubt any significant amount of ...
