Re: Blue Line Extension - Bottineau LRT
Cub being the only grocery store and pharmacy over North Minneapolis does change things. Maybe more investment will come in the meantime, but I understand them studying 2 stations. It's a tough call. As for grade separation I don't think it's just being used to placate localized opposition. This lin...

Re: Northstar Commuter Rail
Extending to St Cloud and giving the route to Amtrak to run all day service seems like the best option. With all the commuter express routes being cut, it's hard to justify a route that's average customer is making over 100k. The line costs more to operate than the 18 for just 2 round trips a day (i...

Re: Green Line Extension - Southwest LRT
If the 55 or 169 BRT's are built on Olsen I hope they will look at connecting the C Line south to Bryn MawrAt least the skyway will also provide another access to Cedar Lake and the trails from the north side.

Re: Public Transit News / Current Events (MN only)
Metro Transit really should do something with the east/west routes. The 4.5 miles between Lake and 66th has just routes 23 and 46 and on the weekends only the 23 hourly. Obviously, the frequency should be better. But 1 mile distance between East-West routes is sufficient. And there really aren't an...

Re: Green Line Extension - Southwest LRT
There are going to be three really low ridership stops on the Mpls portion of the SWLRT, but the Bassett Creek Valley Station and Bryn Mawr Station bug me more than the 21st Street Station for two reasons. First, the 21st Street Station should allow for a useful connection with the #2 bus. Second, ...

Re: Amtrak: Empire Builder and Great River (TCMC)
Amtrak has told legislatures that their next priority after NLX for our state will be a second Twin Cities-Fargo Daily Train which the legislature is trying to use to also get a Northstar extension to St. Cloud. The feds are planning on paying for the Amtrak study.

Re: Public Transit News / Current Events (MN only)
They're both going on 100. I guess they don't want the train to mess with the D Lines on time performance and they want to hit the 44th Ave stations. My guess would be Osseo to 45th/Lake Dr to France to Hwy 100 to Brooklyn Blvd, while the 5 can follow a route similar to the 22A along 51st.

Re: Public Transit News / Current Events (MN only)
Minor route changes coming March 18th. Mostly trip timing adjustments. The only major change seems to be the elimination of the route 7 branch to the VA Hospital. https://www.metrotransit.org/quarterly-service-changes-begin-saturday-march-18 Yeah, the March service changes were originally more, but...

Re: Dan Patch Intercity Regional Passenger Rail
My issue isn't only that missing the West End and interlining with Southwest thereby eliminating the possibility of Amtrak using the line is a mistake. It's that we are trying to legislate away our alternatives analysis.

Re: Dan Patch Intercity Regional Passenger Rail
I get that people have been pining over the Dan Patch line forever, but at this point I'm not sure why it would be prioritized over a route running through Rosemount and Farmington before hitting Northfield (and then onward to Faribault, Owatonna, and Rochester, although either line could hit these...

Re: Dan Patch Intercity Regional Passenger Rail
There's a switchback used by Canadian Pacific that could be modified to allow trains from the Dan Patch Line going north to connect with the Southwest LRT tracks going east. With that said I also don't support a forced transfer in St. Louis Park and missing the West End. Rebuilding the track connec...

Re: Dan Patch Intercity Regional Passenger Rail
The GOP State Senator who represents Faribault and Owatonna supports regional rail; those communities shouldn't be left out because Lakeville NIMBYs think it'll be loud (especially since Lakeville will be voting DFL by the time this would be completed.) Matt Little, who was mayor of Lakeville (elec...

Re: Public Transit News / Current Events (MN only)
I believe that's showing both the 17W and the 17 routing on the same map. The 17 does the 3rd St loop to get to/from its layover in the Gateway ramp, the W stays on Washington in both directions to get to/from the bridge. I hope. I thought they were getting rid of most of the branches with this red...

Re: Public Transit News / Current Events (MN only)
Asking for feedback on reduced, consolidated, relocating stops on route 17. https://www.metrotransit.org/route-17 I'm a big fan of sending the 17W over to Central and Lowry, to allow more access to that area and connections. Ya i like that choice. I was also confused as to why the F Branch is only ...

Re: Public Transit News / Current Events (MN only)
A little frustrating that they're not currently considering removing stops on Central - this is the perfect time to change that up, no one even remembers where the stops were back in 2018 anyway. Guess that's what the comments are for, though. I think the reason why they aren't removing stops on Ce...
