You're right. Upzoning based on a comp plan rarely happens.

Re: Star Tribune

Absolute nonsense. One recent example of excellent local reporting is overuse of solitary confinement by the Department of Corrections. As a direct result of that reporting an effort to limit the practice and eliminate it the mentality ill is underway at the Capitol.

Like hyper loop and self driving technology, this tunneling nonsense will only look feasible if the most challenging aspects are ignored.

Re: Presidential Election 2016

Two big reasons democrats have done poorly: 1. Apathy after the Obama triumph. Trumps gross incompetence and disgusting fascism has taken care of this problem for now. Carrying the momentum is crucial in the years going forward. A 50 state solution with good candidates in every race is crucial. 2. H...

Re: Chicago

I get what you're saying. I find zero value in trash like the unused plaza, blank walls, squat street level commercial and tourist bunker lobby. Other than on the windswept plaza the verticality of the tower isn't emphasized. This is a undoubtedly a huge net positive and better than any other realis...

Yes. A windswept plaza emphasizing IDS Center would have been preferable to the Crystal Court.

Re: Minnesota Governor Election 2018

What good does winning most state wide elections do if the dfl is relegated to a permanent minority in the state house? I also believe the dfl is better for rural Minnesota than the gop and we need to govern as one state not as MSP vs outstate.

Paul Thissen is a boring failed speaker.

Re: Presidential Election 2016

Ridership on Washington Metro Rail for the inauguration was significantly lower than today's ridership prior to the Women's March on Washington and much lower than Obama's 2009 inaugural. SAD!

Re: Sunday Liquor Sales and other Beer/Liquor Legislation

Disagree a gubernatorial candidate would take a stand against Sunday sales even Bakk. It's a losing issue for an executive whose fate is decided in high profile endorsement, primary and general election battles. Tens of thousands voters that would amount a two point swing aren't going to know or car...

Re: Sunday Liquor Sales and other Beer/Liquor Legislation

It's not money holding back Sunday sales, it's business owners and local officials who advocate non stop against Sunday sales. Those of you oddly obsessed with buying liquor on the Lord's day should hound their legislators. It might work. Imo, if Bakk or Thissen is the nominee the dfl will lose but ...

Re: Sunday Liquor Sales and other Beer/Liquor Legislation

If the dfl nominates bakk, thissen or Murphy they deserve to lose though I'll still vote and door knock for them. You wrote Sunday sales could easily (my emphasis) cost the dfl one or two points. There aren't more than a couple hundred people simultaneously well informed on the issue, idiotic enough...

Re: Sunday Liquor Sales and other Beer/Liquor Legislation

Lol lol lol. Here's the voting demographic that could swing the governor's race against the DFL: 1. well informed enough about happenings in the legislature to know the detail of a policy that doesn't neatly cut along ideological lines. 2. Be a DFLer. People who fit point 1 are partisan or have stro...
