Re: MN State Senate and House Elections 2016

Turnout in metro dfl strongholds is important in a governors race. However, to win legislative majorities the dfl must do better out state. Nominating a big city politician doesn't hurts the dfl in rural Minnesota. Paul Marquart could be formidable if he wants the office.

Re: CPM Lake Calhoun Condominiums - 3017-25 East Calhoun Parkway

By just looking at the City Pages url I thought "Cory Z-Polish-name has to be the author." In a city full of super hot anti-development takes, he's the supernova.

I'm fine with appreciating old buildings. Fish who lived in a very tiny pond, not so much.

Now that I've learned you are modern day Herodotus, I feel bad about rolling my eyes at half your posts.

Not really. No-one cares where a nobody (being a musician in a cow town that would later blossom into a major city doesn't make someone remotely noteworthy)built a retirement home.

Re: CPM Lake Calhoun Condominiums - 3017-25 East Calhoun Parkway

3025 was constructed in 1904, more than thirty years after the founding of what would become the Minnesota Orchestra when the subject was 65 years old. Designation on the basis the home is associated with a significant figure is unlikely.

Re: U.S. Bank STadium

Race participants are paying significant money to participate in long race. If they're willing to shell out for the privilege of putting themselves through that pain, they should be able to handle 45 degree weather.

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Restaurant News

Naf Naf Grill City Center is on the verge of opening. Naf Naf employees were milling around this morning and it looked completely built. I didn't see any signage and the windows are still covered.

Re: U.S. Bank Stadium

Starting in 2019 when the convention center is paid off, a significant portion of the Minneapolis local option sales tax will pay for debt service and city's operating obligations. Some property was purchased by the stadium authority and city is no longer taxed. Other property near to the stadium is...

Re: Indianapolis

Indy has to be the worst place to walk I've ever seen. Downtown has some decent streets but it's not good overall. Outside of downtown, major streets that cross rivers and rail roads are absurdly bad. Think Broadway Avenue NE but with worse sidewalks and overgrown vegetation. Suburban areas in Henne...

Re: Presidential Election 2016

Republicans who care about the down ballot races will vote regardless. A small number of republicans turn out only in non presidential years. Trump will turn out a non zero number of white men who rarely vote. They might stay home without a presidential candidate. It'll be a net positive for the dfl...

Re: City of Minneapolis Offices Consolidation

The ramp is 40+ years old. Presumably the city would make a bundle from selling off fire station number 1 site and can bond the cost of this building at insanely low rates. It's a good idea.

Re: A Line - Arterial Rapid Bus

I rode my bike by a couple a line pylons this morning and there was definitely a warning about state fair delays in the nextrip screen. I would be curious if increasing frequency in any significant way is even possible. Between the 960 & revenue neutral state fair express buses running 16 hours ...
