A shot from this evening. Don't mind the little ghost orbs in the picture. Cheap camera, bad photographer.

Re: Rayette Building
I don't think they have parking space requirements (in downtown at least). There have been many buildings converted to residential that don't provide any parking. The fact that this one will have any is a plus.

Re: Rayette Building
I wouldn't call this end "dead". This is right next to the Farmers Market. Heartland anchors a corner a block east. There are already a couple cafe's(Black Dog and Golden Deli's) on the other corners. There will be plenty of room for more with the retail space in the Lofts at FM, O&M b...

Re: Rayette Building
Most likely the tenants will have to find a public ramp or surface lot. There are a few options around. I used to park here myself. Not very convenient cause my apartment building was a couple blocks away, but the price was right. The rates for most ramps in Lowertown are pretty reasonable compared ...

Re: Vikings Stadium
I posted the entire article. Not much details. I'm happy to see it be Ryan Cos. I was hoping Hines would buy it. But we could have done a lot worse as far as developers go.

Rayette Building - (261 Fifth Street East)
An agenda item has appeared on the next Heritage Preservation Committee meeting for Dec 20th. Looks like plans to convert the current parking ramp into housing and commercial space is moving forward. This building is owned by Sherman Associates. Plans are for commercial space on the first floor, 88 ...

Re: IDS Center
Me thinks the real reason was the reported sale price was only for $260 million (though probably not what would've been the final price). Inland paid $278 million for it for it six years ago and has spent millions more in upgrades for LEED certification. The price probably wasn't what they were expe...

A few pictures from the opening today. I thought there be a crowd, but had no idea it'd be soooo packed. Re: Vikings Stadium
I don't see condensation being a major issue, the problem I see with a glass ceiling is the effects of freezing and thawing. Joints and seams will constrict and expand leading to leaks.
But after reading online about ETFE, that sounds very promising.

http://prod.static.vikings.clubs.nfl.com/assets/images/stadium/interior-big.jpg Here's an even better pic. FANTASTIC! Drooling... Glass atriums like that are pretty notorious for leaking in our climate (i.e. Crystal Court, Galtier/CRAY Plaza). I just don't see that being very practical with our wil...

Re: Green Line (Central)
Central station looks just awesome, all lit up with bus stations near Yes it does! I keep trying to grab a nice night time shot of it, but my camera (or most likely the operator) sucks at night pictures. They also spread out the dirt for the surrounding "plaza". I hope they plant some tre...

Re: Downtown Retail News
Hopefully Shorenstein has gotten word about how we despise the exterior of City Center and they will do something to get the base to be more inviting at street level. There is so much retail potential if landlords and the city would work together to get a decent product for the shoppers. You have s...

Those renders show a 6 level podium. The redesigned one has only 5. So those must be out of date. Too bad. They look great.

Re: 1890 University Ave (former Porky's site)
You're right. Most articles I've come across quote it as a seven story building. It'll definitely be one of the taller buildings along University Ave.One of those renderings appeared to show an 8 floor building.

Re: 222 & Whole Foods - (222 Hennepin Avenue)
The grass field south of 222 is owned by 21st Century Bank. The big lot just east of the library is owned by a partnership, but its tax records point to United Properties. UP is a big player. They could build something quite impressive there. Though their sale date was back in 1991. So they've large...

Re: Nic on Fifth - (455 Nicollet Mall)
Phorio reports this building as 287.6 feet in height. For those unfamiliar w/ Phorio, think of it as the new Emporis. I know some folks involved on that site, the information is very detailed and reliable.
