Re: MSP Airport
Was consolidation here purely motivated by reducing staffing levels? Otherwise I thought our having several small checkpoints across the terminal broke up the crowds quite well.

Re: MSP Airport
What's this new security checkpoint change that MPR is saying basically destroyed everything? I'm flying back in a couple weeks and need to know what to steel myself for.

Re: Alatus St. Anthony Tower (Washburn-McReavy Site)
Bus stop possibly moved back from University. $100k to the neighborhood. $250k in public art given to Marcy-Holmes. Possible Hour car and Car2go spaces. Soulcycle in the works, would be the first in Minneapolis and first outside of the state of New York. LEED certified. Bump outs are planned too. I...

Re: Target Center Renovation
I know a lot of people are anti-skyway...but that new skyway connection would save an awful lot of time looping all the way around the building to get in from the ramps. I hope that is incorporated.

Re: University of Minnesota - General Topics & Development M
Also, when it was really cold, I'd duck into the first possible building and get underground. Which works better/more intuitively on the West Bank where my classes were clustered. This is true, the Gopher Way is much better on the West Bank. Maybe the only thing on campus that's better on West Bank...

So they aren't giving any thought to any, for lack of a better term, above-road visual interest on the bridge whatsoever, it seems from those images. Which is too bad.

Re: Major League Soccer Stadium in Minnesota
That would only matter in any substantive way during the school year, and if games are usually on weekends and evenings, I think it won't be too complicated. The state fair lots are difficult, because they're also used by the U's Saint Paul campus.

I can only hope for my parents 'sake that when you get around to doing NE, you look at bleeding a bit over into certain neighboring suburbs.

Re: Rush Line Corridor (Alternatives Analysis)
It shouldn't just be on the table, it should be a key design feature that requires a case to be made against it. I absolutely agree with this. Transferring to the Green Line might already be annoying (maybe irrationally so, but still) for people if the stations are on opposite sides of the Depot; n...

Re: Rush Line Corridor (Alternatives Analysis)
I think if they can make light rail interline in any constructive way, it would be a reasonable option for the corridor. That said, I wish that PDF had a more detailed map of proposed stations to have a better idea of what we were looking at. Like, would a station be sufficiently close to Maplewood ...

While true, it strongly implies a non-recreational usage with some form of regularized trips.

Re: Nice Ride Minnesota
Um... I'm pretty sure that nobody suggested that NiceRide's intent was to serve daily commuters. Their initial materials do suggest that was one of the aims. "According to Jonathan Sage-Martinson, Director, the bike sharing system is a great ‘last mile' solution, extending the area served by l...

Re: Alatus St. Anthony Tower (Washburn-McReavy Site)
That site is next to two full surface blocks of parking, so it's not as if we couldn't have that housing marginally down the road. I'd prefer those go than old buildings that add character to the area. And hey, I acknowledged that my opinion was unpopular, so I'm fine being in the minority on this o...

Re: Nice Ride Minnesota
Has there been any news on where the handful of new stations are going? (/have gone, if no one just posted on it)
I believe the timeline was midseason, and now that we're in July, I think we definitely qualify as in the realm.

Re: Alatus St. Anthony Tower (Washburn-McReavy Site)
I know it's an unpopular opinion, but I do hope the HPC denies demolition of the building. I don't want them to necessarily completely derail the project for it, but I do think it should be preserved in some form, somehow, somewhere. I have no problem with moving it if that's the most cost effective...

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)
I wasn't sure if the EP plan was deferring Town Center or deleting it - the Minnpost article listed it as delete, which thoroughly confused me. It couldn't be too hard to make it possible for a future infill station there.

Re: Lowry Ave NE Redesign
I see no reason to knock down the building at Central and Lowry. I'd much rather they just have a bit narrower sidewalk for a stretch and leave it. And I don't know how quickly they really expect it to redevelop. Once you get this far up Central, or far from the river, the redevelopment has been mor...

Re: Mortenson / USBank project - 333 Hennepin Ave E
Central/Lowry has always been squarely in "Upper NE" in my book. I've always generally thought the BNSF Midway Sub was a good divider between Upper and Lower, possibly cutting over to the river around Broadway or 13th. This is sort of along the lines of what I thought. Though I think Broa...

Re: Mortenson / USBank project - 333 Hennepin Ave E
As long as we're setting definitions, can we make a definitive decision on where the boundaries of upper and lower NE are?And Sean brings up a good point: the intersection of Lowry and Central could easily be considered the center of Downtown NE as well.
