Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)

For those interested, the operator of urbanrail.net recently came here and did a blog post on the Green Line.

Some parts are complementary. Some are definitely not.

Re: MSP Airport

I think HKG is unlikely, given that it didn't work particularly well for Northwest when they ran it. The issue with PVG is that, while Shanghai is the HQ for China Eastern, another SkyTeam member, quite a lot of their (especially domestic) flights are based in the other airport in the city. Cross ci...

Re: MSP Airport

With T1 generally being one of the nicest, if not the nicest, airports in the nation, it seems a shame to not utilize it to its full extent. Terminal B would I imagine, however, require some remodeling if it were going to get widespread use, and presumably some gates would have to be removed (or I g...

Re: University of Minnesota

Yeah, their actions of the past five years don't lead me to particularly trust them when they say thing will just be mothballed. That seems to be the precursor to in a decade saying "Oh, we have no use for it, let's tear it down to save on maintenance costs!" Also, Williamson never bothere...

Freely available Daily article with map. http://www.mndaily.com/news/campus/2014/07/29/east-bank-purchase-expands-university Both of these are vacant lots, and not particularly attractive ones: https://flic.kr/p/owEkzp The Daily article worries me in that the University is talking about decommissio...

Re: Pedestrian Safety and Infrastructure Improvements

Not entirely sure if this is the best thread for it, but some media attention given to lackluster bus shelters can only be a good thing:

Not about the infrastructure of the airport perse, but for interested parties: http://www.minnpost.com/community-voices/2014/06/airports-fall-short-service-disabled EDIT: And for more route based news, apparently a couple of international flight expansions to the Bahamas and Mexico for next Winter. ...

It is pretty amazing that it sounds like their sole criteria for deciding between them was parking.

While I'm all in favor of the buildings, we sure did lose a lot of trees along the Greenway.

Tulsa has this one:

San Francisco may or may not have a forum (not sure), but it does have Socket Site http://www.socketsite.com/ , which posts about 60% development news with a fairly lively comments section on articles.

Re: MSP Airport

On the other hand, so many more direct flights. I'm going to Pittsburgh next month, it's $300 on Delta vs $200 on American Airlines, but it's a 2 hour trip with no layover vs a 5 hour trip with a layover (in DCA, a shitty airport to boot). Well, DCA is a great local airport, but a not great transfe...

Re: MSP Airport

Good to see another big bird flying out of MSP! Meanwhile, elsewhere: Cleveland loses United hub. As a result, United's daily departures from the city will fall from 199 currently to 72 by June. Ouch. Anybody know, for comparison's sake, how many flights Delta has out of MSP? Sadly, the United dire...

Re: MPLS 500K

Some of the most obvious targets (St. Anthony) are going to be among the most hostile. For example, St. Anthony maintains full-time paid fire department (ie, not volunteer, don't know exactly the proper term) basically solely to avoid any attempts to consolidate it with Minneapolis' fire protection....

Sounds like we'll have some greater idea of the development possibilities of the air rights over the parking lot come February 4.

Cycle track information sorted:

http://www.startribune.com/local/blogs/236273411.html

I haven't looked at the specifics, but if one of the comments is right and they aren't bothering to extend it across the freeway to seven corners, that's really unfortunate.

Re: Star Tribune Blocks

I don't see how the Vikings have any say over anything visible during football games not immediately connected to the stadium. The Twins got annoyed by a new ad put up on the Target Center that you could see from the seats, but what could they do? It wasn't their building.
