Re: Accessory Dwelling Units
Yes, the footprint of the accessory structure must be no greater than 676 sqft (or 10% of lot area, whichever is larger). But detached ADUs allow up to 1,000 sqft of total floor area, including parking and half-story area. I know it'd be quite expensive due to the load bearing requirement of the fi...

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings
Can someone give me a rundown of how this is supposed to be used? Like, what's the point when you can bring your bike on the train? Personally, if I lived in the general area and worked downtown I'd much rather store my bike at the station rather than bring it with me to the office and store it the...

Re: MN Highway 252
Brooklyn Center voted on what to do with the stop light on 252 just north of 694. Looks like it's a full conversion of 252 from an expressway to a freeway. 70th Avenue will be closed off but a pedestrian overpass added. Partial access to 73rd Avenue will remain. It was vague about Brookdale Drive, ...

Re: Uptown Retail & Restaurant News
This must really be happening. "Up-down Minneapolis Inc" pulled a permit on January 12th for interior demolition. Looks like they're going to remove the front exterior fence gate and stone pier as well.

Re: Uptown Retail & Restaurant News
There's really no vacant space large enough for something like that in Lyn-Lake, is there? Maybe LynLake Brewery would become LynLake Brewery & Up-Down Arcade Bar, add the vacant storefront just to the north, and connect the two internally?

That seems to imply there might be additional infill stations that just aren't explicitly listed. That's what I'm hoping, anyways...Some new station locations include:

This would be really nice if they can pull it off. I also agree about the competition with the river balcony. If they're going to do both, delay the river balcony. The 4th Street proposal has the potential to be much more transformative.

Re: Uptown Hotel Discussion
The Arby's plot across the street from the hotel poses an interesting proposition due to its unique and small footprint. It'd be kind of cool to put our own little space needle there. No, not a monolith like Seattle. Maybe just a little taller than the hotel and Buzza Lofts. Something that stands ou...

Re: Uptown Hotel Discussion
The real question is, is there anyway to make better use of the parking lot currently occupied by Cub? Short of redeveloping the entire Cub lot, what would you do? The parking lot itself seems to be fully utilized. It's always full whenever I attempt to shop at Cub (usually late afternoon/evening).

http://www.twincities.com/2016/03/01/artists-exit-jax-building-as-lowertown-slowly-transforms/ Interesting excerpt: In the past two weeks, a Minneapolis firm has taken soil boring samples from three neighboring parking lots: a pay lot at Fourth and Wacouta, a sunken lot owned by the Lowertown Lofts...
