Re: Current & Proposed Downtown Minneapolis Projects
Well, it's true that we haven't gotten any 500+ foot towers in the two years this site's been active, but at the same time, we haven't gotten a ton of new towers either. We've only gotten 2 buildings taller than 13 stories so far, with 5-6 more far enough along to have had public renderings released...

No. Ad went up recently on Craigslist. Looks like they're aiming for June, now.

Re: Stadium Parking Ramp Air Rights Development
In general, I agree that uncompetitive bidding processes and single developers building entire neighborhoods is bad. But, in this specific case, where Ryan is already building the ramp beneath the building, I'd have no real problem with them just being given the rights to develop the top, or with wi...

Great to see more services move into SPUD. Has anyone heard anything about whether Amtrak is actually coming or not?

Ryan and Magellan are teaming up, AFAIK.I thought mortenson and ryan were teaming up on this tower?

Re: Stadium Parking Ramp Air Rights Development
You're right. The decision hasn't been made yet. I think the reason we're all discussing the Ryan proposal and ignoring Mortenson's is just because we actually know things about Ryan's, and have (distorted) renderings, whereas literally the only thing we know about Mortenson's plan is that it's a 30...

This went before the planning commission on Thursday. They were also unimpressed with the extraordinary amount of parking.

Re: Current & Proposed Downtown Minneapolis Projects
So, architectural/structural question I'm hoping someone can answer. I know that there's a good reason that all of the mid-rise buildings we're seeing go up are ~80' tall: That's as high as they can go with stick construction, by the fire code. Is there a corresponding simple reason that a high perc...

Re: The Graduate - (1300 block of 4th Ave SE)
I'd like to see a reimagining of the hotel plan that wraps around Mesa, and actually fills in the lot with the house on it. I've got no problems with demolishing an old house, but only if a building is built there, not a parking lot.

Re: Stadium Parking Ramp Air Rights Development
Yeah, I think the photos are a bit distorted. The WF towers look noticeably thinner than in past renderings.

Re: Stadium Parking Ramp Air Rights Development
That actually looks pretty good. I'm happy that it looks like it will be a green roof over the whole parking structure.
Also, a land bridge over the 4th/Chicago/LRT intersection? Have we heard anything about that before?

Re: Stadium Parking Ramp Air Rights Development
I guess we'll see, but if they actually are the same height, it'll be the same height as the tower portion of the office building, and a couple stories taller than the portion of the office building it's next to. I agree that it would be nice if it was at least 20-40 feet taller than the high point ...

Cool. It's was interesting to see project names I didn't recognize, and then realize that they're now complete, but going by a different name. Also, that concept Stadium Village station area plan image is very nice.

Re: Stadium Parking Ramp Air Rights Development
Hm. I'm assuming that'll be a green roof on the side portion, though I'd be thrilled if the entire top parking level had a green roof above it. Guess we'll see tomorrow.

Yeah, I'm not seeing that either. That being said, I'm going to follow FISHMANPET's example, since I'm pretty open about my real name elsewhere.

Re: Southwest Corridor (Green Line Extension)
^This. (Viktor's post, not the one that snuck in while I was typing.) Despite what doomsayers say, this being canceled wouldn't be the end for all trains ever. It might mean that neither of the currently planned extensions happen, and we just focus on better bus service, for years even. But, eventua...
