Re: Tolling Urban Freeways
Let's see if I buy this. Come up with a way for the state government collect money by tolling the roads that we have now. Doing that will lead to a system being put in place where less people will pay to use the roads that the government collects money on? Nope I don't buy that one bit. If you don'...

Re: Tolling Urban Freeways
A better system will be in place once we stop tipping the scales towards SOVs. Is it not social engineering that we've built a system where there's a 15 minute commute by SOV, subsidized 58% by taxpayers, yet a transit alternative takes over an hour? Let's see if I buy this. Come up with a way for ...

Re: Minnesota Multi Purpose Stadium
I don't know, saying the game is going to have a national and international impact on our global image, when I have no knowledge about any city that has hosted a Super Bowl ever, it kind of makes me doubt that. I feel like the appeal to this is fairly limited to people that are just interested in f...

Re: Minnesota Multi Purpose Stadium
I'm going to have to disagree on the "national and international exposure," at least to people that aren't super in to sports. This isn't like the Olympics where Mary Carillo has time to go to Siberia for a human interest piece, it's a football game, as well as a lot of activities and pre...

Re: Minnesota Multi Purpose Stadium
Yeah but the page reads sort of strange. It seemed ot me that they were saying that this is what they were delivering From the page: With our concept for the People’s stadium in Minnesota, LINE approaches the project as an opportunity to reimagine an event center experience from the perspective of t...

He isn't getting any money is he? He's being forgiven the tax on the property and he is terminating parking contracts early. It probably is a wash for him. he could have said no I want to continue to have my lot used for parking, go pay someplace else.

The Project?Who is saving the $1 million? So waiving the property taxes costs 90k but saves a million and people are going to whine about it?
Listen if this is just going to be a sit and bitch about an NFL owner why don't we just lock this thread up again?

Re: Minnesota Multi Purpose Stadium
I don't think most people are upset with him. Most people are upset with politicians who are handing him money. If they would have handed someone else money would that make it better? he did have to cancel parking leases that could have run longer. And are they giving him money or are they forgivin...

http://www.minnpost.com/sites/default/files/imagecache/article_detail/herc_main.jpg Feel free to call this another large building, and I will agree that the smell from afar is overblown (as was the case when Target Field was built). But get that close and there are most definitely unpleasant odors....

Re: Target Field Station
Thanks for the info Nick, very interesting. The station and surrounding development is nice, just definitely not worth the price tag for what it is IMO. Also find it strange that an 80M transit project hangs what should be a 10k passage connecting a major trail on the city's budget. The only true b...

Sweet Jesus. http://www.startribune.com/local/stpaul/255736521.html I am so glad I stopped giving money to that organization. EDIT: Ah, beat to the punch. Kerri Miller is the worst. There, I said it. Asgard is much more appropriate than Valhalla.
Asgard (Old Norse Ásgarðr, “Enclosure of the Aesir) is one of the Nine Worlds of Norse mythology and the home and fortress of the Aesir, one of the two tribes of gods

Re: Minnesota Multi Purpose Stadium
We have not had a game blacked out here since Dec 4 1997. We may have had trouble selling out and have gotten some local businesses to pony up a handful of times, but still that is a pretty damn good run. The trend going forward (just like baseball did) is going to not increase the amount of seats i...

Re: Minnesota Multi Purpose Stadium
The design of the buildng wasn't right for an implosion. there was no solid roof to help pull the debris inward. Or at least I recall reading that somewhere.

Re: Minnesota Multi Purpose Stadium
Not to mention what would stop someone from tossing in a grenade? I know it's silly but where is the security from the outside of those doors to the inside? You are looking at a video rendering and making statements about what the end security will be? Do you really believe the NFl,, the Vikings, a...
