Re: Suburbs - General Topics
A lot of storage units are now being used for inventory storage. I've seen delivery companies use them as a pick up/drop point for items. I'm sure most are still overflow of people's personal items, but it's an interesting trend.

Re: Federal Reserve Riverfront Parking Ramp
Hypothetically, would we be be willing to trade this ramp for the USPS giving up theirs? I would absolutely, without question, rather let the Fed build their new ramp over keeping the USPS ramp in place forever. The USPS ramp site is going to be a great park / transition down to the river someday. ...

http://www.startribune.com/a-farewell-t ... 420124113/I'm relatively new to this forum and these issues. Are there people who think the existing skyways should be removed, or new ones should not be built?

Re: Minneapolis Skyway System
I'm an avid and regular skyway user. I definitely walk farther to more things than I would absent skyways. But they are problematic, in that they are not really public, and thus subject to private gatekeepers, and those same gatekeepers are an obstacle to making ingress/egress easier. Regardless, t...

Re: Federal Reserve Riverfront Parking Ramp
This is nearly a block-sized parcel, correct me but this space looks large enough that it deserves a block full of potential. Put in the parking, but leave space for someone to later construct a hotel or housing. Line the structure up with grid, let the future housing wrap into the odd shaped space...

This has more info http://www.minneapolismn.gov/www/groups/public/@cped/documents/webcontent/wcmsp-216556.pdf As stated above I do like the curve on the trail. Also the new park appears to be open and has actual access to the river. Currently there is a massive wall there and their space is only ope...

Re: North Loop Neighborhood
I don't think there is - even the city office building went through the CPC process, and the Fed isn't government, exactly. I don't see any reason why a parking ramp here wouldn't be subject to the "no stand-alone parking structures downtown" ordinance, even if the Fed is proceeding as if...

New plans again from HPC: http://minneapolismn.gov/www/groups/public/@cped/documents/webcontent/wcmsp-215460.pdf Keeps looking better. Now called The Archive. Saw crews onsite there yesterday marking up spaces on the ground. Hopefully they're able to get started on this on in early 2019. Also looke...

Re: Gateway Tower (RBC/Four Seasons) - 37 stories - 503'
The old Federal Reserve vault and a lot of its operations were underground in that area. Below that is parking. A tunnel wouldn't be feasible. What's under Cancer Survivors Park? Parking, right? Any chance of a tunnel?

Re: Stadium Parking Ramp Development Site
I know the architects of the ramp are hopeful that office space or residential will go on top of it one day.It would be nice if they at least covered the ramp with something. I think it'll be great to have an semi-open air food hall or park or etc on the top.

The trailer is nothing new, it's been there monthsI did not know that hotels can be built in spec. Thanks for the info. I might be mistaken, but I believe that construction trailer has been there for a while.

Re: North Loop Development (Not West Elm Hotel & Condos) - 102-120 1st Street N
I like the design better than the original. Very curious about the courtyard, it'll work great if there is active retail along the way, otherwise it's just a pathway to an alley with some guards standing around. The packet mentions the parking ramp will be used by the proposed hotel across the stree...

Re: City of Minneapolis Office Building - 501 4th Ave S - 11 stories / 171'
Has anybody figured out what the future potential graphic is in this? Is it suggesting that the offices could be expanded on top of the ramp next door? Or that it's for private development? It just has that with no real explanation. I know the Fleet Farm ramp was designed to have office/residential...

Re: West Elm Hotel & Condos - 102-120 1st Street N
I'd like that. Right now the current design does nothing for me and I think come the dark days of winter it just won't look that good (IMO).Would it be better if the U faced 1st? It would probably have better sun exposure and breakup the flat wall front of the building.

Re: West Elm Hotel & Condos - 102-120 1st Street N
Not from what I heard a month ago. Maybe they found another site? That corner parcel next to Fairgrounds? The 1 story building behind the Lowry building? Literally anything on Washington? Another site would be a better fit for them, especially a corner lot with lots of visibility, like the empty su...
