Re: 330 South 12th
So much discussion on this...I am sure any solid propsal is years off. Isn't this just a feasibility study like they did in 2007?

Re: Magellan Apartment Tower - (1368 LaSalle Avenue)
Yeah, xcel was working on moving lines to that pole today, and one of the entrances to the lot was blocked by on of the barriers that have been sitting in the lot.

Re: Minneapolis & St. Paul Fantasies and Speculations
I gotta agree with NASA on one point...yes, I said that:) "Stop building the city for people who don't live in it"? So what...you would rather not have the other 3 million people in the area be able to get to Minneapolis with relative ease, park, and spend their money in the city? I mean I...

I like their Mill city building. The older ones, not so much.

Re: Handicraft Building Apartments
I wonder where the apartments will go...in the interior of the lot and on the old 1016 site I guess? I think they have to keep the entire handicraft building, not just the facade, so I don't believe hollowing it out is an option...luckily. They may have some trouble designing this one on that lot, b...

Re: Xcel Energy HQ - (401 Nicollet Mall)
I don't really see a downtown retail thread in here yet...but speaking of retail, it looks like another one has bitten the dust today. Looks like Godiva in IDS has closed.

Across from a newspaper plant, next to a power sub station, and about 2 blocks from an industrial wasteland! ha!

Re: Xcel Energy HQ - (401 Nicollet Mall)
There are plenty of vacant retail spaces...Too many. A lot of retail has been converted to office downtown over the past decade due to low demand. Gaviidae and City center are both about 30-40% vacant I would say. Target Commercial doesn't even use their storefront on the mall anymore, and there is ...

Re: New Target Building - (1001 Nicollet Mall)
Just as I was hoping they are putting in a nice green space with fairly large trees behend the building( where the other building was demolishied right up to the handicraft building). Though it isn't public of course, it really helps soften the vew looking down 10th street, makes it look much more i...

Much better. And yeah, they certainly did take out a pedestal floor.
Nice work, thanks!

Re: Nicollet Residences - (455 Nicollet Mall)
Yea, you guys are right, it does seem to make a big difference. I never really loved it to start with, but it looked much better in the 33 floor rendering. Will be so happy to see this block developed anyway though! I hope they can get a good restaurant or something for the first floor, to bring som...

Re: Nicollet Residences - (455 Nicollet Mall)
I guess that would probably be right...are you taking that from the drawings on the city of Minneapolis page? I accounted for the 18' "34th floor", that would now be the 28th, but I didn't take into account the pedestal in my calculating...which must have made a difference? No wait, thats ...

Re: Nicollet Residences - (455 Nicollet Mall)
Calculating from the old drawings, this should be about 295 feet, which is pretty much exactly the same height as Grant Park.

Re: Nicollet Residences - (455 Nicollet Mall)
I rephrased the last post to better make my point. Anyway, not trying to get personal here...just having a discussion. It seemed like you kept going back to whether or not we should have condos in the first place. I did read your post about renting/buying...it still didn't really sway me. I think it...

Re: Nicollet Residences - (455 Nicollet Mall)
You are not understanding what I am saying either with regard to the discussion about location/pricing/cost...your whole argument is hypothetical. It doesn't matter if having condos "make sense" in the grand scheme or not in Minneapolis, that is a different argument. Some others are talkin...

Re: Nicollet Residences - (455 Nicollet Mall)
Doesn't really matter if it makes sense here or not, the realities of the market are what they are, and the prices are what they are...so I am pretty much saying...with things as they are, why would it be better not to buy? Also, someone who wants a condo isn't going to buy a single family home if t...

Re: Nicollet Residences - (455 Nicollet Mall)
Well condos already exist here and are more expensive than their apartments in many cases, so it is pretty much a moot point as to whether or not they "make sense". haha. I think it is better to gain equity when possible, so I would certainly buy if I could afford to, but I couldn't afford...
