Re: 600 5th Street North
I mean no offense, but I continue to think it is kind of amazing that (from your somewhat dramatic posts on the Nicollet residences at least) you seem to think that 6 floors off of a 33 floor residential project destroys it. We are talking about 65 feet maybe...a difference, yes, but it isn't as tho...

Re: 1368 LaSalle Ave development
What do you mean? This hasn't faced "nimbyism" in years. The last 2 versions of this project were fully supported by the neighborhood and Lisa Goodman...don't think that is an issue. As for whether construction is starting soon, It is encouraging that the barriers on site are have the name...

Re: 1001 Nicollet - New Target Building
PS, the plaza is hardly a "green space"...but if the most people you have ever seen using it is 2, you must not pass it often! I work right up the street from there, and in the summer, it is well used. Many more than 2 people. lol. Just sayin'.

Re: Bennett Lumber Site
I live near 34th and Henn, the only place I ever get delayed is at the bottleneck near Whole foods, which isn't really uptown. Around Henn and Lake, yeah, the stoplights get backed up a couple blocks sometimes...but it has never added more than a few minutes to my travel time. Not horrible. It's no ...

Re: Minneapolis Skyway System
I think there should be skyways...may as well continue what we have, but I have always thought that each one should have a direct connection to the sidewalk for ease of access between the street level and skyway. So you are not stuck in the skyway and see something on the street you want, and vice v...

Re: UTEC Student Housing
It's funny, usually the buildings I am upset about losing others don't care about, and in this case it is the opposite. I used to walk by this everyday...it is not in good shape, and there are many buildings...some still in use as schools, others that have been re-used, just like it all over the cit...

Re: 1001 Nicollet - New Target Building
Seriously, we have been through this...they are not getting rid of any office space downtown. They are moving more people into those offices as they move the others to Brooklyn Park. Of course we would like to see all the jobs stay downtown...but at the end of the day, there will not be 3,000 less e...

Re: 222
That was the later proposal...the initial proposal included a tower...around 33 floors I think? I couldn't find any renderings, but it was a pretty nice looking building.

It seems like they have started work on one block of this...the block between Colfax and Dupont is fenced off with a Weis trailer. Anyone know? Or perhaps it is soil remediation?

Re: UTEC Student Housing
I wouldn't actually be sad to see that building go...it's not in very good shape, has been modernized in a bad 1980s kind of way, and we have plenty of old former school buildings like that in the area that have been re-used already. Usually I hate to see old buildings go...but this one doesn't do a...

Re: Nicollet Residences
Actually, in Seattle the process is very similar to here, and there are often huge hold ups because of bureaucracy and neighborhood protest...They are quite "picky". Can't speak for the other places. There is just a lot more demand, so more gets built. But again, in the case of this tower,...

Re: Nicollet Residences
I don't think they would go with MOA, but maybe. I think they would more likely go in Edina, or even out of the market. If they do leave, I REALLY don't see another department store taking it's place...I think that is VERY wishful thinking. Downtown just isn't a retail destination anymore...which do...
