Re: Bicycle Infrastructure
Superb to hear about Lasalle—that section was, in my opinion, one of the most glaring holes in the network. 14th is good news, too. It would be nice if they extended the lanes to 8th.

I'm talking about the design. I understand that mixed-use projects are more complicated—that doesn't excuse them of poor composition.

This tower is better designed than the Gateway. Kudos to Alatus—they are clearly the best developer in town.

WHY is it so disjointed? What am I supposed to be looking at? There's no sense to this. Why is it floating? This thing is all sorts of strange, and not in the good ways..

Re: Riverview Corridor (Alternatives Analysis)
So what happens when frequencies are adjusted? IMO, conventions should be assigned based off of what I’ll call “most-perceptible differences” i.e. what the average person understands to be different between modes. I think it makes more sense for the average person to understand: color=it’s on rails;...

Aww, that garage is cool.. The whole building is entirely unique; plus it already has a rooftop patio. It seems like it would be very successful as is—just replace bedrooms, etc. with seating, similar to coffee shops in old houses.

The roof signs can't be three-dimensional and they can't be lit, if I remember correctly.

Re: Fantasy maps
Sort've off-topic, but to me it would make sense to utilize a naming system where buses are numbered, BRT lettered, and LRT colored. Can anyone speak to this (as in, why it would or wouldn't work), as it seems like Metro Transit's current plans are haphazard, naming-wise...

Man, if only we could make that system more efficient by utilizing super-high capacity vehicles instead of single-occupancy cars.

What's hurting this design most is now its uniformity. The previous iteration had a significant advantage in facade design in that the large "cut-out" sections utilized glazing to break up the monotony of the rest of the facade. The pattern of varied windows, while offering uniqueness, doe...

Re: Twin Cities' National and Global Image
My first reaction is; these comparisons seem useless for picking 3 factors, and ignoring everything else. It would have been more useful if they had just looked at child care costs, or more useful yet to see a full analysis including all costs. The biggest/most obvious absence is transportation cost...

According to the documents there will be parking along 38th at the intersection with 42nd (due to a wider ROW near the intersection. If that's true, I'm not sure what the problem is, and I'm not sure why nobody is acknowledging that. Look at the plans, and look at the current steeet: NO PARKING is b...

Since I started this, might as well update everyone, I ended up (finally) ordering a bike last week, the Priority Continuum . Getting used to the different riding position from my old hybrid, but it's certainly lighter, and I look forward to doing less maintenance. Oooh, you should do a review afte...
