Re: "A Line" Snelling Avenue Arterial Bus

So speeding or running a red light, which are a heck of a lot riskier to society, are petty misdemeanors while fare evasion is a misdemeanor? WTH?
Fare evasion is also stealing revenue from the agency.

Re: "A Line" Snelling Avenue Arterial Bus

According to the May 11 Transportation Committee meeting, the TVMs for the A-Line (And C and D Lines) will print tickets that will not be able to be used on regular bus fareboxes and will not be able to recharge Go-To cards. This allows each TVM to cost $11,000 instead of the $80,000 the LRT TVMs c...

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)

Build all stations only long enough for 2-car trainsets. That'll save a few bucks now.
That won't work since the Green Line already runs three car trains and the runs will be continuous.

Re: Major League Soccer Stadium in Minneapolis

Like I said, I'm assuming the wording in the tweet is wrong and the bill is actually for public ownership of the stadium. Apparently she actually is proposing public ownership of the team. http://www.startribune.com/state-rep-phyllis-kahn-proposes-new-mls-team-be-community-owned/302935381/?recircul...

Re: Major League Soccer Stadium in Minneapolis

Hi everyone. I'm a newbie, so please be patient. I'd like to help the conversation get back on topic. I'm a little astonished that there isn't more skepticism about the stadium proposal. I know the blogger at http://www.fieldofschemes.com , and from that site and the book of the same title I've lea...

Re: Major League Soccer Stadium in Minneapolis

Is the lack of a Royalston station really a factor? Soccer fans have been trekking out to Blaine for years. How many of ‘em would actually forego attending a match solely because they’d rather not walk 1/4 mile from Target Field Station to the stadium? I don't think it would be too big of a problem...

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)

Costs have gone down before. Central Corridor came in under its original budget which resulted in all kinds of upgrades. In fact I believe both of our LRT projects came in under budget, resulting in contingency funds being used for upgrades. You are no longer allowed to use contingency funds on upg...

Grant, Do you know if those are the old Escalators, or did they move them and those are new units?
Looks like they were relocated.

Re: Downtown East LRT Ped Bridge & Stadium Plaza (MSFA Block

So, this angle makes me ask again... Remind me again why we can't build a skyway across 4th Street, just west of Chicago, to vertical circulation that brings people to the westbound LRT platform (and further down to the ramp)? This would basically cross from the vertical circulation seen in the new...

Re: 10th & Marquette Development

Looking at those images, it's not even 100% clear that you can actually "walk out" from those little patios. They appear to be fully enclosed by railing. Not sure exactly who that would appeal to... I want to live on Marquette, and be able to step out onto a little private patio, but I do...

Downtown East LRT Ped Bridge & Stadium Plaza (MSFA Block)

I believe the issue is the underground structure that was a rushed idea. Kind of like this one.

I hope tomorrow they'll final pass that amendment on banning funding for unicorn bridges since nobody asked for those either.

Re: Major League Soccer Stadium in Minneapolis

Minnesota United FC will privately finance estimated $120 million for construction of an 18,000-seat stadium and about $30 million for land.

Re: Mayo Clinic Square

Now does anybody know is the old red staircase which clearly said "Skyway" still in place? If so is it clearly market? It has to be right? I mean with the city wanting more Street to Skyway access points they must have not allowed the removal of a clearly market S2S access point right? .....

'Soccer land deal hints at public subsidy request' 'The owner of the site for a new pro soccer team says developers want time to appeal to lawmakers.' HG, How is this not a solid story? It seems like it'd be negligent not to print this information. Do you think the media should defer to McGuire's P...

Re: Minnesota Multi Purpose Stadium

Another case of the public paying for the private portion of the stadium.
Voluntarily.
True. Seat licenses are voluntary as well. Have the Wilfs actually put any of their own funds into this project?
