This is a little old but it shows Route 53 being replaced. https://www.metrotransit.org/Data/Sites ... s/lake.pdf
That conflicts with the Service Improvement Plan, which proposed Route 53 operating in both directions during rush hour.

Re: B Line Lake St Rapid Bus, Midtown Rail Transit
I think skipping the Midway zigzag will be fine. Love that this extension to downtown St. Paul is getting done, makes me think about the terminus at the west end being the West Lake station, why not go one more stop west for the turnaround at France/Lake Street/25 where there is an apartment neighb...

Re: MSP to Rochester High Speed Rail
One thing that needs to happen is to build more of a base in the MSP region for these services rather than relying on individual regions in Greater MN to lobby for their lines. This. The Greater MN regions all are absolutely auto-dependent so a train into the Cities, while nice for commuters or cas...

Has anyone tried MVTA Connect? I did between two random areas in Burnsville and it worked pretty well. I only had to wait 15 minutes for the bus.

Re: Fantasy maps
It'll be interesting if one of these routes could work. Did the Northstar have a circulating bus? Second scooters and bikes provide competition of the year. I noticed a lady taking a scooter to hear car near the Metro Transit garage on 7th yesterday. The Northstar had Route 20, which was discontinu...

Re: E Line Arterial BRT
Southwest LRT and the E Line are two completely different routes. In addition to connections south to Edina an ABRT route on France to Excelsior would also provide connections to Uptown and along Hennepin Avenue. Yeah the B Line will provide connections from West Lake to Uptown, but I'd rather have ...

Re: E Line Arterial BRT
It's a bit of a complex route, but the rationale does make sense and it hopefully will still be fairly straightforward to navigate with the exception of the segment between France and Hennepin. Hopefully they have a concrete plan to keep the buses moving through that section smoothly, because that'...

Re: MSP to Rochester High Speed Rail
Best real world example that I can think of for what rail on Highway 52 would look like is the New Mexico Rail Runner where it operates in the middle of I-25 for a certain length. Just from a glance at images and Streetview there’s definitely some grade changes, but I don’t know how similar they are...

Re: MSP to Rochester High Speed Rail
Would they really pick a route that they didn't even know if the geography was suitable for trains?
The only other options are going through farm fields, which is politically extremely difficult, or the long way via Owatonna.

Re: MSP to Rochester High Speed Rail
According to a colleague the grade changes on Highway 52 would make it difficult if not impossible to have rail going along it; is this true? Is there a way to find out what the grade is on Highway 52?

Re: Northstar Commuter Rail
I hadn’t realized until now northbound trains from Fridley have to go all the way to Coon Creek Junction to get on the north/westbound main. Would a crossover closer to Fridley help ease train traffic?

Those bridges were built in the mid 1970s. I think CP owned the southern bridge as they inherited it from the Soo Line who inherited it from the Milwaukee Road.

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)
When was the channel built? That should tell you when the bridge was built. The rail line itself was built in the 1870s.
It’s at least 80 years old as I see it looking at 1938 aerial images.

Re: Suburban Transit (Opt-out Services Providers)
Is it just me or is their service will really confusing with all the letters and shuttles? It also didn't seem clear how you request for the flex service to go off the main route. Service between Eden Prairie and Bloomington could be a hell of a lot better but they don't seem to be trying to make it...

Re: Northstar Commuter Rail
I bet Northstar was considered fantasy, and look what happened.
Reopening the Great Northern Depot or Milwaukee Road Depot in downtown to passenger trains is fantasy, but what we’ve been discussing is well within the realm of reality.

Re: Northstar Commuter Rail
This long conversation belongs in Fantasy Maps or Intercity Rail. Nothing to do with Metro Transit's Northstar... How does this not have to do with Northstar? Whatever changes are made to Target Field Station or a new regional rail hub for Minneapolis would very much have an impact on Northstar. Wh...
