Re: Fiscal Disparities
If you want to talk cheap and drab you need to take a look at the Northwest suburbs. The only redeeming feature of the area is its proximity to the city of Minneapolis. There is not one noteworthy culturally, social or architectural achievement in the entire area. Sorry without Minneapolis, Blaine i...

Re: Burch Pharmacy Building
Probably in the Scottish Rite Temple parking lot.Does anyone know where the owners plan on having people park? I love the idea of this restaurant on this corner, but even if they valet there is no parking lots nearby.

Apartments vs. Condos | Renting vs. Owning
This post from Market Urbanism is a great article asking the, http://marketurbanism.com/2012/07/01/why-do-condos-even-exist/ question why do condos even exist? The TC metro will probably never go through the problems in the post, but is interesting nonetheless. I thoroughly recommend the Market Urba...

Re: 222
Its fine to be disappointed. I think most are happy that a multistory mixed use building is replacing a dilapidated auto dealership. I guess since I now live on the eastern edge of downtown I feel there is plenty of room for towers.

Re: 222
He's just a troll. Is it really ugly, or is it just a letdown for this location? I mean, if they put this thing next to the boxy, boring everyday junk you see proposed in The Loop, Marcy-Holmes, Uptown, etc. it'd stand out in a good way.that's a block-full 'o fugly

Re: Tall Buildings
[snark]Well I am just going to say if it wasn't for the sky ways in tall buildings I would move out of downtown to Cambridge because the Wal-Mart is close to the Applebee's so gas would be cheap. We all know good cities do not need sidewalks, who walks outside after 10pm? Parking lots are just as go...

Re: Nicollet Residences
So if that's the comparison, Minneapolis is "picky". San Francisco, Seattle, Portland.....the opposite. Are you saying that San Francisco is not picky? The city with a population of 805K netted only 269 units in 2011. San Francisco's NIMBYs would make the residents of Linden Hills look li...

Care to elaborate? I have never read a positive apartment review. Is there something in particular about those apartments that them so bad?I would check out some apartment review websites about that place. Might be good we avoided a huge project similar to that at this intersection.

Re: Trader Joes (Lyndale and 27th)
I E-mailed Meg's office about this a few months back when I still lived in her ward and basically she said that she will not accept zoning changes. Although I do not think the current proposal is good, it may preclude other really proposals because they do not conform to code.

Re: Nicollet Residences
The vast majority of people in New York and Manhattan for that matter live below the fifth floor. Urban living is not about being above the 27th floor, its about having access to a vibrant city. 27 floors will provide lots of foot traffic, I am not sure how tenants will interact with Nicollet, but I...

Re: Presidential Election
The truth is Obama isn't remotely qualified or competent for a job this large. Plus he's outright lying and his hypocrisy is stunning. Hanging out with the white 1% and getting millions from them and wallstreet while demi-goding them later....with a wink. We need an adult in charge and harry reid, ...

Re: Target Center Renovation
I get to the Target Center quite a bit! Even on non game/event days. When I trek from the east side of downtown to 1st Ave and 6th St, I would say this is second or third most active corner on my trip. Add up all the events, 81 Twins games, 41 Wolves games, dozens of concerts and the nightly shows a...

How's it looking?
How's "bitchin'" for an answer? Yes, "bitchin'" A common phrase use to express bas-assery that became popular in the mid-90's.
Is that related to the sculptural technique known as bas-relief that became popular in antiquity?

Re: Vikings Stadium
Like I said on Minnescraper a Norse themed boat shaped stadium in the vein of Al-Shamal Stadium which is being built for the upcoming 2022 World Cup in Doha, Qatar. I also like the exterior is clean and free of visual spam. A similar design would certainly set up apart from other North American spor...

Re: Block E Casino
Pittsburgh and Detroit have urban casinos and there fiscal fortunes have not turned around. Downtown Minneapolis would not benefit from a casino.
