Measured by zip code, Edina's 55424 (the quadrant between 44th, France, 62, and 100) is the 51st wealthiest zip code in the nation. http://www.bizjournals.com/twincities/print-edition/2015/11/20/minnesota-most-affluent-zip-codes-edina-map.html?ana=e_twin_rdup&s=newsletter&ed=2015-11-20&...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis General Topics & Development Map

Really the only open lots left in the Mill District are across the street from Izzy's and 205 Park Ave, which I have to think Minneapolis will put a RFP out eventually.

No mention of IDS 2??? Maybe it was never a real serious proposal.

Re: Alatus St. Anthony Tower (Washburn-McReavy Site)

You should've seen it before. It had some box jutting out, it was really out of place. I think they're still trying to configure that. I hope so, I liked the top on the previous rendering where it got narrower at the top with the brown L shaped thing. This doesn't look bad, but I think it would be ...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis General Topics & Development Map

New seating, bike racks, fire place, bocci court, retail, new skyway entrance...seems like some nice upgrades for this sterile dead zone it's been.

Re: Downtown Minneapolis General Topics & Development Map

Has anyone seen the plans or a display for the renovation to the 100 Washington plaza? There are some heavy duty barricades up and very limited access to the buildings front door. Looks like the east portion will be done first with the west being done once the east is completed. Hoping for more gre...

Re: Xcel Energy HQ - 401 Nicollet

here's their recently completed building in Denver. http://www.paintsquare.com/news/images/1800-Larimer.gif ostentatious? Does anyone know if Xcel is the sole tenant/owner in that building? Or is it a multi-tenant building that Xcel has the naming rights? Xcel occupies about 75% of the Larimer buil...

Re: Xcel Energy HQ - 401 Nicollet

Why does Excel have a signature building in Denver but not Mpls? I thought that Xcel, a Denver company, bought NSP back in the 80's during merger mania after Reagan years of deregulation. Minneapolis is one of their corporate office because NSP had a staff here that took care of the regulatory issu...

Re: Rumors!

This is a rumor I'm starting. I was out for a jog last night checking out the Stadium, Wells Fargo buildings, parking ramp & the Thresher block that will be developed. Then I noticed the large quarter block surface parking lot between the Spaghetti Factory and Sawadee, so I looked it up and it l...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis General Topics & Development Map

So, my post was really a roundabout way of asking what other events the city has allowed to close down such a large part of downtown for a private ticketed function. I think the All Star Game was a much smaller area than this, for example. They did the same thing last year. It's basically an outdoo...

This is going up quick, none of that was there last Tuesday. They are trucking in all the concrete pieces and assembling it. Hopefully developers can use this to cut costs and maintain quality.

Re: Alatus St. Anthony Tower (Washburn-McReavy Site)

What I meant was, wasting it by not building during the past few months. Ideally I would want to start every project in April or May to maximize progress before winter where efficiency would probably take a hit.

Awesome. I have been wondering when this was going to get going. I wouldn't want to be wasting these prime weather months for construction.

Re: Nicollet Hotel Block

Is that sarcasm perhaps? Market rate is the same as all the other apartments going up....and we need to make sure the ones we have going up will fill. Probably the recent report of the 8.8% vacancy rate downtown has scared them. Now, I think a lot of that was just brand new empty units fresh on the...

Re: Nicollet Hotel Block

It boggles my mind they wouldn't be comfortable building market rate apartments in the downtown market when supply is severly lacking and there is pent up demand for affordable downtown apartments.

Re: Upper Mississippi -- No Locks For You

It seems like if you close one, you would close the other since they are right next to each other. There is no place to go in between them.
