Re: Minneapolis Armory

Oh goodies - more good use of tax payers's money. Why even both at this point? The building is being rehabbed and likely won't be torn down any time soon now.

Re: The Commons - Downtown East Park

I am so sick of this city and the developers in this town who present these big, grandiose plans that win the public's excitement and approval, to only have them fail to deliver. Sick, sick, sick.

Re: Alatus St. Anthony Tower (Washburn-McReavy Site)

I live in this 'hood and really hoping this does get built. Still not too keen on the taller building planned at the US Bank site. It should have a setback with the taller residential portion along 1st or perhaps in the middle of the building.

Neadeau(sp?) is closed. Also - anyone know what is going with the building on Lyndale kitty corner from Hums? There is scaffalding up.

Re: The Commons - Downtown East Park

Can someone explain to me again how this park is supposed to be funded? The Park Board pulled out so funds from surrounding developments can't go towards creation of the park, correct? I am actually still confused if that dedication fee even passed at all - I know Hennepin County was protesting such...

Re: The Commons - Downtown East Park

People love water - ponds, water fountains, etc. I think cutting any water feature now or in the future is a huge mistake. I realize the park is close to the riverfront - but it's still different.

Re: Northeast (and Southeast) - General Topics

Emailed the mgt. company for Riverplace about relighting Riverplace's large roof-top sign. She said unfortunately it would be a huge undertaking. I hope Riverplace is eventually bought out by a new company who can invest in renovations, etc. The interior is stuck in the original 80's design. The mgt...

Re: Nicollet Mall Reconstruction Project

So I've been in touch with the person coordinating art on the new Nicollet - she said the artists selected for new art have just started working on their pieces and there should be open houses/announcements in the coming months. She said that the Sculpture Clock located near Peavey is being renovate...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Retail News

Emailed Zara via Facebook. They responded the next day and said at this time, they aren't planning to locate a store in Mpls anytime soon. Didn't mention MN in general.

Looks like the Wells Fargo off E. Hennepin and 5th is undergoing interior renovations. Hoping this branch closes and the site is redeveloped.

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Restaurant News

There was a rumor posted somewhere on this board a few months ago that BWW was/is looking for a spot near USBank Stadium. I think it's a great idea - the one on campus is pretty much always busy, though the event density is a lot higher there, nestled right in between TCF, Williams, and Mariucci. F...

Re: Mayo Clinic Square

Personally I love the remodel, inside and out. Exterior and lighting really adds to Hennepin Avenue and the side streets. A little disappointed that the improved streetscaping didn't take place.

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Restaurant News

Hopefully they are still exploring the idea. I know we are getting way of thread here and this discussion probably belongs somewhere else, but what about Buffalo Wild Wings? I am not a fan - but it's a MN company and could see them thriving either next to the new Vikings stadium, or in the warehouse...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Retail News

Sorry wasn't try to twist what you were saying. Unfortunately, in Mpls we've also seen that high end retail and restaurants haven't been able to survive. I attribute this to our culture's fickal nature, long, cold winters, competition from outlying neighborhoods, regional malls and the MOA. I would ...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Restaurant News

http://tcbmag.com/News/Recent-News/2014/January/National-Bakery-Chain-Takes-2nd-Look-At-The-Twin-C I've been busy emailing several retail and restaurants about locating to Mpls/MN. Was going to email Corner Bakery and came across this article. Hoping they relocate to the TC- first didn't like them b...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Retail News

So downtown/cities should just be for the wealthy? That isn't sustainable. We need a range of incomes in the city, and a range of shopping/dining options.

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Retail News

I mean you can't build a great city if everything keeps opening and closing. Overall - Mpls is a great place to live - just need more options to make living downtown more accessible for daily life.
