so we agree none of these sports owners are ethical. i still want to see mn united produce some information on their stadium proposal.

Re: Minnesota Multi Purpose Stadium
vikings site has more more soccer configuration renderings. until the mn united group/mcguire reveal something to the public, (have they revealed anything but vague statements?) i'm going to cut the vikings some slack. they are clearly making a concerted effort to bring expansion team here. http://w...

Re: Nye's Polonaise Room - 100 block of E Hennepin Avenue
gee a tower of 10 or 20 stories and more density. but what will it look like? unless you get jean nouvel, cesar pelli or someone who has an eye for design of towers i have little hope. the majority of new architecture in this town has been pedestrian at best and that's being generous. meanwhile minn...

Re: Northeast - General Topics
i can see some local restaurateurs forming a group to buy this. it's great location in a great area.
a generic multi-res building here would be a shame unless this legacy business is saved in some form.

Re: Downtown Minneapolis - General Topics
i think the lesson here is that people want to be come downtown during the holidays just as they've always done. it was gratifying to see the street/sidewalks full of people rather than a typical cold weather saturday where the mall can seem barren. this market will be tweaked i'm sure to make it ea...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis - General Topics
yes i agree the plaza space is just too cramped for everything. i could see this moving to a larger surface lot in future years because the first weekend saw big crowds. or just have the huts on the sidewalk for a few blocks of the mall. make it a strolling experience.

i'm really impressed with fair state brewing's space to go along with the great beer. one of the nicest of the new breweries, imo.

we're just waiting to see how the park board's lighting on fire of money they supposedly don't have goes. crying poverty on basic park upkeep but then spending hundreds of thousands on studies to appease rich constituents.

Re: Xcel Energy HQ - (401 Nicollet Mall)
I can guarantee you that the HPC and a lot of other architectural historians would do a lot more than blink in the face of such a proposal. Whether you like it or not, this is likely to be the building that represents the Gateway Renewal into perpetuity. this and the former Northwestnern insurance ...

i didn't know that. I'll have to get up the quarry location to check that out. i assumed dt target was still the test store. that dt store still feels very oversized. but wasn't it their first attempt at a dowtown site? or one of the first.

Re: Xcel Energy HQ - (401 Nicollet Mall)
Fair enough, though I'm not always a fan of well known architects. Heck, I could see saving one or two examples of Gehry bs and recladding/imploding the rest. you're so right. but please keep our "baby bilbao" at the U. i did not know the original xcel was Belluschi. so i suppose i will l...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis - General Topics
they'll probably give people some sort of proof of admission. season pass or whatever. it looks pretty cool. ryan companies is coordinating the construction. seems as if there will enough free things to bring people down. so that reindeer pen will be right on the mall, not in the fenced off market a...

isn't milwaukee part of "chicagoland" basically? it just seems to have been sucked into chicago's sphere of influence like a borg. i'm sure it'd be the same if were so close to a mega city like chicago. in that sense i prefer mpls/st paul being more isolated.

that dt target is too big. it feels like a typical suburban store in spite of its two levels. i think at some point it will be converted to their city, urban concept.

Re: Farmers Market Soccer Stadium
its all good i just don't like seeing the typical local infighting. i want a team here regardless. now we have county/mcguire vs city/wilfs. mike opat is blessing the mcguire group so the farmers market site must be settled. i would love to see that area redeveloped. there is some things happening w...
