Re: Nicollet Hotel Block

530 feet including the spire.

JMI is the hotel partner. 300 room, five star hotel.

And I'm here wearing a bright red rain coat.
so no mention of the actual hotel brand? or is JMI a hotel? never heard of it. this must be the hotel developer.

Re: Minneapolis City Politics General Discussion

cano is insufferable. lisa goodman is a rock star council member, has been since she started. Andrew Johnson is insufferable. has he proposed any other name changes for city streets or places? awesome stuff. Jacob frey should probably wait four years I tend to agree with that. the lemming like voter...

Re: U.S. Bank Stadium Construction Updates

I have been a Vikings fan for 33 years. I loved Red McCombs, previous owner from Texas, until he gutted the team in order to get the most value for his sale. I even like the Wilf's before the whole stadium drama started. But the way they have acted in about the last 5-8 years has been too much for ...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Office Market

what damage has been? we have ton of robust, growing companies in the twin cities metro.
Valspar isn't fortune 500.
they have renovated buildings in downtown east for research and I don't think this space will be just vacated.
it's the nature of business.

Re: U.S. Bank Stadium Construction Updates

kirby puckett place is an official name...not an alternative. this is such a silly, petty, smarmy debate and speaks to mpls' awful governance. you hate funding of stadiums therefore be petty. heckuva job. that any development exists in this town actually surprises me half the time. it's three blocks....

Re: Westminster Church

I don't like this. but whatever they own the land.

how much space does this church need. they just did an expansion a couple years ago. waste of land imo. and I agree I don't like that bell contraption. so I suppose we'll have to hear that thing blaring all the time.

Re: U.S. Bank Stadium Construction Updates

not sure what the big deal is. when the twins got a street renamed "twins way" there was barely a peep. that being said I think its more the way the Vikings are making the argument. you read their statements and wonder if they actually believe how pretentious they sound. I mean, god forbid...

Re: Downtown East - Wells Fargo / Radisson Red / Edition Apt

Western 3rd of the last floor of the Rad Red is now making ti's way up. NO ROOF TRUSSES YET. Looks like once they have this project topped off the Millwright Building will be breaking ground so that will be under construction by summer. Will be happy to see both those blank walls of WF towers cover...

i agree with lisa goodman. the pavers and the transit shelters were the two things I really liked about this design.

so we're getting a dumbed down pseudo pedestrian mall.

the city should get out of the business of owning and operating assets in suburban communities. no reason for mpls parks to be involved with this golf course anymore.

Re: Minneapolis City Politics General Discussion

I'd say the city could net a lot more benefit investing in fixing up streets and infrastructure in places like, say, near northeast (NIEBNA) than in throwing it all away on a little armpit tucked next to some highways just to make billionaire sports owners happy. Let St Paul have this latest mess. ...

Re: Minneapolis City Politics General Discussion

st paulites love it when the mpls mayor is ineffectual and distant. the cities are still fiercely compete.. but st paul wants it more. and now they're getting a 300 mil development from mn united dropped in their lap because of minneapolis' multi-layered, focus group governance and a mayor who doesn...

"A grotesque monument" to misplaced priorities, broken politics, and submission to blackmail. You can't separate the building from how it got built. Architecture-wise, it's bound to be iconic. An icon is defined by 'a person or thing regarded as a representive symbol of something.' So jus...

I am heartened that it took 2 entire days before someone made that comment.
