Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)

Comparing Mike's observations yesterday to the LRT line in Norfolk (which I'll be living on for exactly 1 more month): - The only occasions where the green light and the LRT signal are combined are on the three one-block segments where the LRT trains and vehicles share a lane. This was due to narrow...

Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)

Biked by the West Bank station today…after seeing it in person, I can see where there would be difficulty in bridging 15th Ave over the LRT tracks.

Re: Target Field Station (née The Interchange)

Biked along the Cedar Lake Trail through downtown this afternoon…was somewhat disappointed that I didn't see any construction from that level. Did I just miss it?

Re: UrbanMSP-esque sites in other cities

On that note, then yes, GGW is more like streets.mn. Though I've heard rumors of a possilbe merge between UrbanMSP and streets.mn. Skyscraperpage and Skyscrapercity have already been mentioned. There used to be one for Denver that's different than what Woofner posted previously, but the name escapes...

I still have a PDF of the Alternatives Analysis. Can search around for that when I have the opportunity to.

Surprised nobody mentioned Greater Greater Washington yet, which goes even further into advocacy and hard questions than UrbanMSP does...

Re: Hennepin & Lyndale Bottleneck Project

It should be noted that MnDOT proposed something similar to Rich's design during their 2007 freeway study.

Still like my idea better. :o)

Re: Southwest Corridor (Green Line Extension)

“the council by statute does have authority then to consider what it wants to do. If true, this will be key. And at the rate things are currently going, Minneapolis will probably get the shaft. On a side note, who edited my comment from the 22nd to add the (obviously) ? That was not me, nor do I th...

Re: Southwest Corridor (Green Line Extension)

Don't have access to your Google Maps Engine so I can't see the visualization. But based on your description, the only way you'll get it along Hennepin south of 94 is if you tunnel it. *THAT* IMO would be an acceptable alignment…but as David noted, cost would be a huge factor, nevermind the disrupti...

Re: Southwest Corridor (Green Line Extension)

Minneapolisite is right to make comparisons to suburban VA Metro stations. We're hoping for smaller-scaled versions of Clarendon (very walkable with many amenities even if autos still have huge presence) when in reality we'll get something that looks more like Van Dorn (metro station along freeway ...

Re: U.S. Highway 52

Matt: MnDOT and Goodhue County did do a comprehensive study that looked at both County 1 and County 9. The conclusion was for a full interchange at County 9 and to (once the existing intersections are closed) reroute County 1 along 100th Ave. This project that Monte mentioned is the county's attempt...

Re: Saint Paul Streetcars

Since someone mentioned it last month, I didn't run my Riverview line through the Ford plant because I envision streetcars serving the Fort plant area instead: http://www.ajfroggie.com/roads/minnesota/rant/transit/streetcar/ford.png http://www.ajfroggie.com/roads/minnesota/rant/transit/streetcar/sne...

It seems like we're doing these things bi-monthly, so the next one would be late March.
If you can wait until early April, I'm back in town 3/31 til at least 4/5.

Re: I-35W/I-94 Commons

(also posted on Streets.MN, as mister.shoes asked my opinion of his proposal there) I like the overall concept of a more direct I-94 tunnel, though it'd be just as fantastically expensive as MnDOT's earlier proposal to expand the existing tunnel. It's location is not unlike "Line C" from t...

(surprised I didn't register on this forum before now, but noticing I was out to sea when it started)

A different way to look at the Hennepin/Lyndale confluence:

Relating to Hennepin/Lyndale, here's another way to consider it:
