Re: Electric Scooters

Currently near Music Row in Nashville. No exaggeration, there must be more than 75 of these (Birds and Lime) within the four blocks closest to my hotel. I didn't realize the scale of usage outside of MPLS.

Re: Electric Scooters

I rented my first Lime the other day and it felt more sketchy than the Birds. It seemed like there was less foot room and, in general, like it was more dangerous. Did survive scoot from south end of downtown up to Central and 22nd, which felt like an accomplishment.

Why wouldn't Central be included on that map? Any insight?

Re: Minneapolis Skyway System

Let's use projectors to make it look like everybody in the skyway is actually on the sidewalk.
Why do you want people to walk on the sidewalk so badly? There's already a thriving pedestrian scene one floor higher.
I'm a joke maker.

Re: Iron Store - 528 Washington Ave N

Split-level retail is something I would love to more of in our city. Denver has a surprising amount of that in its downtown.

Never underestimate how much time sad people will dedicate to stupid shit, especially when any form of local government is involved.

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Office Market

What do you all think about the reports that Target and Kroger might merge? While that brand doesn't have a big presence in our area, it's the second-largest retailer (behind Walmart) and 18th largest company in the U.S. according to Wiki... this could be good for downtown.

Re: Old Thrivent HQ Block - 4th Ave and 6th St (existing building & new parking ramp)

It's immediately adjacent to much taller buildings/the core, so it's much more bothersome than something like The Edition or most sites in the Mill District.

Re: Nicollet Mall Reconstruction Project

I interviewed Jesseka at Mid-America and was happy with the direction she's taking for the Dayton's project. They are focusing on mixing local, national and new-to-the-market brands, and ensuring retailers include some type of experience beyond just the same version of a store you'd find in the 'bur...

Re: Western Container Building/Arctic Cat HQ - 500 3rd Street N

As part of Cat being purchased by Textron, they are going to be closing their fancy new North Loop office. Too bad, but it sounds like this whole deal was essential to the company's continued survival -- at least according to my sources in the local powersports world.

I'll be curious to hear what you think about that stuff, Matt. I'd like to do a smart doorbell at some point. Hue bulbs are ridiculous, absurdly expensive and unnecessary, but I got a crazy deal on them through a relative and am surprised by how much I enjoy them in my basement bar. I will add a few...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Macy's Building

From what I'm hearing, a food hall is likely for this space. These foodie tenants tend to take up pretty small spaces, and can be done in concert with retail and larger/traditional restaurants. I'm guessing they'd still need a significant office component to help fill the space, but I'm told to expe...
